My feeling is that we're looking at the end of an era. Gas prices are likely to head up massively as the economy recovers. New CAFE regulations are likely to put a nail in the coffin for cars like the 370Z. Increasingly the Green Mafia will demonize those of us who drive sports cars (how IRRESPONSIBLE!!). Look at what happened when the Sierra Club started targeting Hummer?
Future sports cars are likely to be hybrids (see the Porsche 918 concept for example). The performance may be same/better, but the days of a rip-rorting gasoline engine making only 21mpg EPA are numbered. Enjoy it while you can! |
