Seems the pads were worn down to the plates and they boiled the brake fluid. Question remains, were the pads worn when they received the car? If so, this highly publicized incident was very damaging to the brand and Nissan should sue their asses if this was the case.
Seriously? What's your source?

If this is true C&D has some serious questions to answer:

1. Why would they or their driver get behind the wheel WITHOUT checking the pads first???

2. Why didn't they check them right after the crash?

You would think they would have pulled off the fracking wheels and checked the pads immediately after the crash and, if they found worn pads, they should have STFU...?

so they dont know much about safety before tracking a car.... great. not that i know much about tracking but the first thing i would check condition are BRAKES and TIRES. hope the driver is okay.

This was quite some time ago and nobody was hurt. From the looks of it the Nismo took the wall on the passenger side hard. C&D said the brakes failed completely without warning on the second lap in a turn where you must drop from 130 to 40 mph quickly. If it turns out to be worn pads they have some serious backpedalling to do.

For starters, Nissan could just install the new brake pads as a standard for 2011...

I wonder if the 2011 Nismo will actually have automatic transmission now that most sports automakers (Ferrari and Lambo) are ditching manuals...

Not enough, IMHO. They need to bump up to probably around at least 370 hp to stay competative in acceleration. It wins hands down in all other catagories already so to me, the obvious choice is a power bump. Seems as if the block is already very robust so this shouldn't be outragously expensive to do.

Nor does Nissan for supplying a mechanically questionable car to a Magazine for testing! Yikes! Bet the guy in charge of the press fleet's head rolled on that one..

I agree with the power bump. At least 370 would be nice and it would be a nice play on its name as well.

Somehow I don't see the car's weight being reduced anytime soon. But if they were to shortened the height of the 370Z and stiffen the suspension as well as the horsepower bump, then all of these factors will be sufficient enough to at least compete or beat the American pony cars.

Although I know Nissan will never do this, I would hope for the 370Z's width to be increased a little. I love wide, short, and stocky stance but a man can dream right?

stiffen the suspention to compete? The Z already easily outperforms the others in handling. In this price range not much can approach the Z on handling, you have to move up the food chain quite a bit to do that.

I'm talking about overall hence why I put the horsepower bump in there as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Nismo is dropped temporarily and the 2011 regular models receive the 350hp.

You know if they add HP to the car it will be probably through opening the exhaust up mostly. You are better off buying an aftermarket exhaust and tune and getting more than anything Nissan would do.

maybe they will come with a factory oil cooler. I will cry if that happens.

Doubtful. Unless the car is a completely new design (and it's too soon for that), the addition of an oil cooler from the factory will be seen as a tacit admission that one is needed, which will have ramifications for prior-year models. And Nissan isn't about to admit that the 09 and 10 models ought to have come from the factory with oil coolers installed.
