My biggest complaint about the 370z is that I can't drive it because I'm deployed. Can't wait to see her when I get back! Oh and my wife too

It doesn't go into reverse, I have to be very deliberate going from 4th to 6th or the shifter catches the edge of what I can only guess is the reverse gate. 3rd to 5th is no issue. In general, I find 5th and 6th to be not as smooth as 1 through 4. After driving my CL for 8 years I got used to the feel and maybe still haven't adjusted. IMHO Nissan could learn something from Honda shifters.

Anyway, just my experience. Thanks for reading the post.

The seat destroying your back. I've had moderate to severe back problems for nearly 16 years now, so I am interested. It's the entry and exit that bother my back more than anything - not the seat itself.

henryy370z 12-27-2012 09:21 AM

what bothers me is long drives... its a bucket seats so my lower back kills me im 20years old and i still get pain from it

I have been doing exercises specifically for this reason for the last 15 years. Consider looking into some back stretching exercises and doing them for 20 min about 30 min before you get in the car for a long drive. It helps tremendously, as I have never had the Z seats hurt any worse than any other car I've driven significant distances. I live in TX and on multiple occasions have put nearly 1K miles on a rental car in a single day without even leaving the state - 800 miles is the most I've put on the Z in a single day. Stretching is by far the best solution I've found.

What seats are they, The cloth or the leather? I have had no trouble with my leather seats.

dam thats not good, when you are older that will get worse, I actually think the Z seats arent that bad, they are comfortable compared to altima seats. :rofl2:

ZForce 12-27-2012 07:22 PM

Z34 seats alot better than 05 & 06 seats...imo

Oh...and the heated seats make all the difference if any pain should arise.

tvfreakazoid 12-31-2012 05:34 AM

doesn't the lumbar support help?

:iagree:

I have back pain all the time... But with the touring seats with the lumbar set to the max... I could drive for hours in my car... I did, lol, I drove from Dallas to LA, and I'd do it again, over and over, lol (my friends didn't believe me about the comfort until I drove it out, now they all agree I have the the nicest riding interior (most of them have RX7s))

My dad, even when he drives my car thinks it's comfy, he has REALLY bad back problems, and while he doesn't care for the roof being low or the pain to get in and out or even the leg bolsters, he likes the back support, and the seat heaters, although I JUST taught him about those

Sorry to hear that. That being said, however, the cloth seats in my '11 Z are by far the best I've come across. I drove a Cruze from Charlotte to DC (5.5 hrs) to pick up my Z and my shoulder socket was popping and I had a sharp pain just above my right hip. The drive home took 6.5-7 hrs in the Z and it was, no joking, 'just right'. I had no pains in my back, none in my shoulder. I'm 6'2", 173lbs. Maybe you can adjust the seat position or bottom dials a little better and not to just what feels good for the first 30 minutes (not certain that's the case).

I can only compare these seats to an 07 Civic, 05 Protege5, 05 Pontiac GTP, 95 Integra GSR, 96 Neon, 89 Bronco, 78 RamCharger, 04 Ram, 89 Lebaron, 89 Caprice, 91 Escort wagon, 78 LeMans, 78 LeSabre, 67 Pont.GTO, 54 Chevy (flatbed deuce and a half), '64.5 Mustang, 69 Mustang, and a few more I've owned.

I hope you don't have any further pains from the seats in the car and hope a solution is as simple as a re-adjustment. (seriously, some people never learned how to adjust their seat properly- hell, my fiance held her bright-light lever back towards her for years until I said she could just pop it forward and they would stay on. From that day, her nickname has been 'bright-lights').:icon17:

GL!

Because you got heavy foot?:icon17:

Quick370z 12-31-2012 01:58 PM

This has been discussed a ton. The base seats (which I have in mine) are pretty bad, I mean they are fine if you like did a good workout are fully awake and ready to tackle the world, but if your like tired, hungover or sore, the lower portion of the seat digs into you - simple reason is the lack of padding.

Its a mod I want to do down the road, upgrade to Recaro Sportster CS

I've seen a couple members have then on here and pretty sure they got the airbag thing also fixed after the switch over. You can get very comfy seats and yet very supportive - just look at the seats that come with the Boss Mustang.

Nailzs 12-31-2012 05:37 PM

My biggest complaint is I didn't buy a Z sooner.

Regarding problems, my hatch sticks in cold weather, it pops up but doesn't completely release, you have to press the button again. One of the cargo hold downs broke after 1 1/2 years and I wasn't even trying to bungee down a Buick, just my work bag.

For dislikes, there are a few . . .
Agree with the comments about the seats. I wish the bottom had more adjustment range and was slightly longer (I'm 5'10" - 170 lbs.). That said, drive an S2000 sometime, holy crap, talk about tight. The side bolsters will poke holes in ya!

I hate (I know, such a strong word) auto headlights so the fact that Nissan doesn't put the auto position at either end makes me crazy.

Even more, I hate (there I go again) the auto dash lights, please just give me a day/night button, I can handle it, really !

Car should have a telescoping steering column.

The gate for 5th and 6th gears could use some work. It is hard to skip 5th and not hit the reverse gate. Maybe it's the reverse gate that could use a tweak.

Still love my Z.

After four years and new hatch springs, my hatch also continues to require the double take as soon as the weather cools. Has anyone found a solution to this annoyance?

Put some coins in the bottom of the rubber boot of the hatch spring. Very easy job. At least one DIY on this site.

Edit: And make sure the seal and the mating surface are clean and not sticking.

Ain't that the truth. I had a Mercedes and a Porsche and the Z beats them both!

2xtreme1 12-08-2013 11:30 PM

Umm..complaints..
lets see...
Um perhaps the fact that I can not set the time to military time.
I regret not making touring an option when buying.(does this belong in those regret threads?)
umm another complaint is the paint..just cause..I don't think I have had real issues with is like other people, but its black and I am totally ocd over the paint. Just looking at it gives it swirls, in other words it is pretty soft.

ummmmmm I think that is it.

Military time would be da bomb! I retired after 33 years Army, so I need to learn Air Force time again (the big hand is on the 3....).

I got the touring because I wanted nav. I'd have passed on it and got the base model with sport package is the rear view camera in mirror was available. I wanted this for a FUN car so I was not going to settle.

Fountainhead 12-09-2013 10:02 AM

Yeah I held out for the Nav version too, the biggest complaint I hear about the Nav version is the stereo system. Rap/Techno/Rave music guys replace all the drivers in the car, add 1000 watts of 2 ohm amp, and replace alternator and battery. Nav version makes that really difficult in that the head unit has most of the functions of the car HVAC integrated.
I just couldn't settle for the base or sport version after I'd seen the Navi/Touring Sport model.

I had nav in my heart from the start, even looking at the 2014 Mustang and a 2013 Toyota Avalon. I do agree that the stereo will need new speakers, I like to crank it to 11 and the sound it just not there. Very odd considering it has Bose in it.

The Bose system is a cohesive unit with everything matched parameter wise, and the drivers are tuned to the EQ in the Bose amplifier if I'm not mistaken.
We've curved the response in driver and passenger positions and it's relatively good down to 40 Hz.

Changing the drivers will necessitate consulting some of the guys that have done so and know what drivers to get. Most Navi guys end up buying a speaker or line to amplifier adapter then replacing all the drivers and adding a 200 x 4 2 Ohm amp and a 2 x 12 custom enclosure in the rear with a 1000 x 2 ohm amp.
It's quite expensive, unless you buy BOSS kits. :)
PS: Most guys that go that route end up adding 200 lbs of noise dampening materials in the doors and cabin due to Noise and Vibration induced by the radically increased music/low freq volumes.

My only complaint with my 370Z......

The outside mirrors are too BIG.

The drivers side mirror actually causes a huge blind spot. I've never had a car with this problem. When making left turns is when it's most apparent. I've had to really adjust for this before it causes a major issue.
Anyone else have this issue?

I have the same problem. Also with the pillars. I think it is because of height because i'm 5'3...:bowrofl:

Darketch 07-06-2014 12:50 PM

I'm 6'3" and have the same problem lol!

14ZTSport 07-06-2014 12:51 PM

Personally, I like the size of the mirrors as they help me navigate the blind spots caused by the pillars and headrests...and lack of visibility through the tiny rear window. Never really had any trouble seeing over or around them when turning left or right.

Limeybastard 07-06-2014 02:22 PM

Rear wiper I am glas we dont have this.

Those mirrors must double as major downforce generators.
