Yes to both of these.
Only time you'd want to turn on high beams is when it's hard to see. Why is the blue dash light so blinding?????????????

My complaints so far: 1. People complaining about the 370

Sorry folks, I like my car. I have had zero issues with it in the almost three years I've owned it. I put up with all the 370 bashing that goes on. In fact most of the time, I get a good chuckle with all the serious ailments this car seems to have. If one paid attention to all the complaints, you'd get the idea that the 370 is the worse vehicle ever built.

Flame away, but I love my 370. (Or rep away if you agree.)

You're complaints are 0 because you know what your car was built for. You also bought the car for its attributes as a pure sports car. You didn't buy this sports car to be like your old M3, or your old S2000, porsche cayman, corvette camaro or mustang. You bought the Z out of love for the car.
NOT EXCLUSIVITY or being the cool guy on the block with something different. You knew what you got into when you bought the Z. 75% of our forum bought this car for reasons that are not condusive to what the cars purpose is built for.

My only issue was lack of an oil cooler "ONLY" because this is a "PROPER" sports car and a heating issue in any capacity should not exist. Even with that issue, my activism toward it was a selfless act because I "MYSELF" will put my own in fitting of a car that will soon be a approx 550hp turbocharged car. Most of the forum doesn't care anyway so "why break a sweat???"

But the lack of caring about the oil cooler but complaining about stereo's, toggles, trunk switches or lack there of, intell cruise control or lack there of, power folding mirrors and other minor bullsh1t that doesn't affect this cars overall performance is futile imho.
This is why there's an aftermarket. Modifications arel limitless. Me personally, I feel every vswitch and every light is perfect. I think Nissan put every gauge in the perfect position and is perfectly readable.
So in the long run if you have a lot of little quips about the ergonomics of this vehicle. YOU DID NOT MAKE GOOD USE OF YOUR TEST DRIVE. You bought this car on pure emotion. And I can think of one car that has more in features than the Z at a much lower price. The gencoupe. One at a slightly higher price. The bimmer 1 series and another that will give you 90% of its performance and attributes while doubling the feature list. The infiniti G37:
I owned 2 G's and with aftermarket wider wheels and suspension setup. It rides almost exactly like a Z. You can get about 1.09g easily out of a modded g on the items mentioned. There controls are slightly better placed and more intuitive. Seats can go into better angles for more head and legroom, stereo is an 11 speaker bose system that kicks ***. Intell cruise is an option, your seats will have lumbar support on the sport model for long trips. 12 way power memory seats give u that perfect position. WoW! All that in a G??? Yeah and so much more! Its a proper sports car and gives you two extra seats.

This is why Nissan makes 2 sport coupes. The Z... sh1t if I were NISSAN nav wouldn't even be an option. It would stop at touring and I would invest the extra 2k into a DCT option over the extremely good but needing of modification slushbox.

So in reality, the Z offers more than necessary already. And no car is built as solidly in the price range unless ur buying a miata based on its doors. Then your saving about $10k.

Seriously, right?!?!? When it's that dark out, I also usually have the dash/gauge lights dimmed down pretty far.

UKNOWN's contradictory fanboy rant aside, I think my car is basically perfect for what I bought it for and how I intend to use it. The fact that my complaints are minor things like a high beam indicator that blinds me at night or a toggle switch that is easily bumped and changes the radio station during fast handiwork of the steering wheel is a testament to my car being suited to me and my driving style.

I have yet to need an oil cooler since my car was built to be driven on public roadways.
The brakes have never given up on me. It came with enough power. My car didn't "need" any of the mods I performed on it.

If the measure of a perfect car that's missing essential pieces of equipment to do something it wasn't designed for, along with its mod-ability, then we'd all be playing with turboed Civics.

Fanboy would be to say that the Z is the only best car out there. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying for the types of complaints that are thru this complaint list. There are better cars suited for quite a few. That's what I'm saying. As far as lights. The are HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE LIGHTS. THEY MAKE A PROJECTOR DOWNGRADE LIGHT FOR PEOPLE WHO THINK THE Hi-DISCHARGE LIGHT IS TOO INTENSE.

That's what I mean about silly complaints. I don't contradict myself. I'm just saying. If we are going to make a complaint. Let it be something that is condusive to what this car is designed to do and not doing.
Truth is not EVERY car is built for every person. There's nothing fanboy about it. Its just true.

Agreed. The headlights on my Z kick a**!
I don't know why anyone would want less light output to see the road with.

:iagree: The 370 has excellent headlights.

moto_italia 11-13-2011 10:37 AM

Some things on my wish list for the 370Z:
1) A one push-button front window defroster that kicks compressor on and fan on high. And then when you push / turn it off, it automatically returns HVAC to your previous settings.
2) On Non-NAV Bose radio: Wish the XM radio would show both the Song Name and the Artist Name at the same time. And I wish that you could change channel from the 1st six pre-programmed stations on SAT-1 to the first one on SAT-2 from the steering wheel without having to hit the SAT button. Also, wish the sound quality on XM was closer to the sound quality of CD changer (I've never had a car where the SAT radio sounded this much worse than the CD's.)
3) And I wish the horn was louder.

Several other 'wishes' have been mentioned that I didn't want to duplicate, but for the price, the 370Z delivers more than its moneys worth.

themann1984 11-13-2011 12:00 PM

The 370Z is pure sex! It is hot, loud, and rough!

FYI - the complaint wasn't about the headlights (which are awesome). The complaint was about the dashboard indicator light for the high beams. It is full brightness light that's not affected by dimming the dash and makes it harder to see.

Pretty sure you only post negative things in this forum. Why?

There is no retrofit there that I see. Can you link directly to it?

kenoverbey 11-14-2011 11:57 AM

Side mirrors suck, they are huge and block way too much view...

FricFrac 11-15-2011 09:19 AM

View of what? Yes they are large and ugly but I've never considered they block the view of anything that impeeds my driving....

KaienZ34 11-15-2011 09:47 AM

I'm not tall at all and i can see over/past the side mirrors without any problems.

Masa 11-15-2011 11:49 AM

I find people who complain about side mirrors blocking view are the ones who have seating position set to 'gangsta lean'.

I'm 5'7" and find it sometimes hard to see the curb on a roundabout because of the mirrors.

wife's 5' 4" and she complains that the side mirrors block some of her view to the side/front

I'm 5' 10" and have no problems so at a certain height (or lack of height) it is an issue.

moto_italia 11-15-2011 07:56 PM

I'm almost 6'0" and the REAR view mirror sometimes blocks my view of a car to the right at a 4-way stop.

This, I'm 6'2 and it definately gets in my way more than anything else. I have actually considered removing the rear view mirror completely, but it hasn't annoyed me enough to get to that point.

Hey!! I am having the same problem with my 2011 Z..I was wondering, what did the dealer tell you? Should I take mine to the dealer as well or is it normal?

KaienZ34 11-15-2011 10:05 PM

What problem are you referring to?

omgitstai 11-15-2011 10:10 PM

My issue is similar to the post by MINICORBA1 on page 1 of this thread. Below is what i copy and paste from his post. Should i take it to the dealer or is this typical?

-CLUTCH CLUNK-
When going from first to second gear, if I haven't got the revs up to around 3k or above, when I depress the clutch to go to second it makes a very distinctive clunk sound. It only does it from first to second, and only if the rpms are low. I can also get it to surface if I'm in first going slowly in a parking lot and depress the clutch, I'll here it then too.
Anyone else experiencing this????

Skeeterbop 11-15-2011 10:51 PM

I do, but as my tranny warms up it goes away.

Whitemtl370 11-16-2011 05:28 PM

Bluetooth simply DOES NOT FUNCTION in this car. I have yet to encounter someone who can hear anything i say, no matter which way i angle my head/scream!

Anyone else have this issue?

HankL 11-16-2011 06:46 PM

Heated Mirrors

Maybe it is only on the Touring package but I have heated mirrors. They are activated in the defrost position.

I think this has to be a phone compatibility issue. I have an original Moto Droid & everyone says it sounds great when I am driving. however, my voice dialing does not function by name very well & I have to say the ph #.

Mine works fine with the iPhone 4.

Have you tried multiple phones to narrow it down to being an issue with the car?

I have the same issue. Been to the dealer 3x on this. They say it's my phone compatibitity. But I've had 2 different phones in this car; Palm Pré, and Motorola Atrix - both are same as you described. Nobody can hear me worth a sh*t despite screaming into the mike, re-setting the out-going volume, etc. I can hear them fine; just not reverse. I've given up. I don't even use it, and that really p*sses me off. Otherwise I love my car, but the fact that Nissan won't address this properly and install a new mic in my car, bugs the bejeebies out of me. I personally think there is some sort of interference with the mic hook-up and the body of the car; maybe the way it's run, whatever. I think it needs to be re-run.

KaienZ34 11-17-2011 12:59 PM

Mine works fine but i use my phone at the house.

Whitemtl370 11-17-2011 01:23 PM

I have the iphone 4 , my phone functions perfectly in the maxima an mb glk 350...

I've noticed the same thing. I only notice it in the parking lot because thats the only time when i shift into second so early (cant stand the whine of first gear...) when you shift into second make sure your foot is all the way off the gas and you have to wait a second from foot off of gas to clutch in. Otherwise it will make that clunk every time.

Which reminds me, anyone else annoyed by how loud first gear is? Sounds like im going in reverse too fast or something... oh and another thing, there is a certain rpm range where if i shift into 5th gear even if the clutch is to the floor it grinds... Im driving along going :happydance: shift into 5th and :ughdance:

My biggest complaint on the 370z is addictive.

And this situation on the 370z is much 'worse' than on the 350z.

:driving:

bleufiend 11-17-2011 08:37 PM

On long drives. Like 3 hours plus the bottom seat side bolsters get pain full. And I'm not a large guy by any means. 6'1 and 195lbs so I'm fairly proportionate. I get out and walk around but still. That, road noise compared to the 370z and the paint chipping in the front. That's it. Everything else is great.
