Those with AT, what do you use for MT mode?

I don't think I have mastered the art of the manual downshifting with this car yet..which is strange, because I've driven manuals off and on since the 80s'..but it seems like whenever I try to do the manual downshifting thing ..It ends up giving me this big ole engine roar and then the other people in the cars around me just turn around and look over at me and I feel like they probably think I accidentally mis-shifted into neutral. its odd.

if I want to downshift without it going ROAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR

I have to slow down untill 1600-1800 rpms BUT

if I am too slow it automatically downshifts and then it does a double downshift so from 3rd to 1st

which is very ROAR.

Yes..I get that double downshift a LOT..which is why I think I'm just not very talented at "automatic" manual shifting LOL! I did better in the 6MT!

It seems to me like the way its set up, Nissan intended for us to let it auto downshift on its own when slowing down and leave the manual downshift for when you need power for passing or misbehaving.

I use the stick for upshifting and the paddle for downshifting.
