Should we discuss the vinyl graphics on the side that make it unique?

The 40th had way more cosmetic stuff. Darker wheels, different paint, badging, a commemorative cover, different calipers I believe, red stitching everywhere, and red interior.

At the end of the day. None of it matters. They all perform the same.

Soohiaz, in your opinion, why do you think 40th get so much more love than the 50th?

Honestly, I think the 2019 yellow and black Heritage Edition was a better "special edition" than the 50th and should have been the 50th.

Another reason is there were so few 50th anniversary editions produced (only 50 total). There were thousands of 40th anniversary editions produced and available on many dealership lots. So a lot more people actually got into a 40th compared to the 50th.

Grey? The 40th anniversary edition did not have grey paint.

The 50 total was just the US red and white version.

True but it's not like they produced a ton of the black and silver livery either. The 2020 production numbers in general are far less than 2010 numbers; and that applies to the anniversary edition numbers as well.

I can’t answer that since that is basically my question. I’m not asking who liked which one better…I’m just curious as to why the 2020 didn’t get as much love. It’s not just about the 2-tone paint or graphics for me. The interior was changed, wheels (color) and of course the badging. The only thing I liked about the 40th was the red seats, but again, that’s just me. I honestly wanted a 2020 Nismo but my Camaro had just been paid off less than 2 weeks when I came across a new 50Th so I snatched her up.

Ok you are technically correct. That wasn't for the body paint though. The gunmetal color was for the 40th wheels in lieu of Hyper Silver which was the standard color for sport wheels.

honestly I think it's just because people were annoyed there wasn't a more significant update, so the 50th anniversary car got some backlash.

'that's it ????'

seems a bit strange now since we've all seen the new car, but at the time there was quite a bit of frustration.

For one, more 40th anniversary models were being produced. That was the 2nd year of the 370Z so still a lot of hype surrounding the car in general. It wasn't a lot but it had some pretty unique styling for a special edition of a new model car.

Very few 50th anniversary models were ever produced. The entire model lineup was basically already on its way out and had to compete with development of the new Z that is now supposed to release this year. The 370Z was already long in the tooth with public appeal dwindling. Nissan didn't really do anything to change that public perception and thus you have the lackluster public interest.

Personally, I think the 50th anniversary was a really great opportunity that was missed due to poor timing with the leadership and financial status of Nissan. It's essentially a revised 40th edition scheme. It should have been something special to reinvigorate interest.

In hindsight it might have been cool to release the new Z as a boosted 50th edition with the VR30. Then phase out the 370Z and announce a new model lineup going forward with NA and boosted model options.
