Why is the 50th anniversary edition never discussed?

Paint code is KAV and name is 40th Anniversary Graphite and wheels were painted the same color (40th Anniversary Graphite). It was a grey with some purple in it, I always liked that color!

Yup I was wrong. I completely forgot they called it Graphite Gray. In the sun it's purple tho.

First time I saw a 40th in real life, I felt in love with that color and the color scheme. It was first to get red calipers too.

I don't know if this applies to others, and I don't want to get owners of these cars angry - it's all subjective, but for me, I really didn't like the graphics added. Not a big fan of the stripes - yes I know there's a heritage there, but to me when it's added on like that it detracts from this beautiful car.... the beautiful shape. Makes it more Herbie the Love Bug as opposed to the gorgeous aggressive, flared and sleek machine it is.

When I was looking at new ones, my first thought was: how hard is it to take the graphics off..... but the interior "enhancements" didn't look great to me either.... splashes of color, but not enough, and in weird places - I think the red looks OK though....the yellow in the heritage...ugh...for the center console padding? What the???

But again...it's all subjective, so I know for some people it's probably the best thing ever.....

I just wanted one in pearl white or the dark blue....

I agree with the stripes….I been wanting to take them off but when I go to sell it, not sure how it’ll be valuable compared to it with the factory stripes.

It would lose all value as a special edition.

What if I got new ones and added them back correctly?

You could, but I wouldn't just rip them off, and then you go to the dealership and they tell you, actually those stripes aren't available for purchase seperately, leaving you ****ed.

I would first order the stripes from Nissan and have them safely in hand before even attempting to remove the original ones. I don't believe those stripes would be in stock for very long after the car production has ended as they are purely cosmetic, and I assume they would be at least a couple hundred dollars each?

Those stripes are only on the door right?

Your safest option honestly could be to try to see if there is a vinyl wrap that exactly or closely matches the door panel paint colour, and just wrap the doors, preserving the originality underneath? Or wrap the whole car and enjoy having a complete different colour for several years?

If you are planning on keeping this car long term and hoping it appreciates as like an investment, 20-30 years down the road, factory originality is make or break. I have been to a car auction for classics and the price is PURELY based off of factory originality.

It's like others have said - by the time the 50th was released - it was already long in the tooth as far as a car model - heck we had the 40th AND the 50th anniversary being the model with only cosmetic updates. The 40th I always thought that color was incredible - the purplish hue that it added along with the red seats/accents - just beautiful. Like someone has already said - it would be awesome to take the 50th anniversary versions and add the updated motor with this body style - I think that would have restarted heavy interest in the Z again - and in particular the 50th anniversary version.

Yes. The people who would be interested in buying the car 10+ years down the road will more than likely want it to be as close to factory condition as possible. No factory stripes = just another Z. YMMV

Yes, and all mods hurt resale/collector value as the car is no longer 'factory'. The only exception to this rule are first party mods (ie. Nissan/Nismo add-on accessories and parts)

Well daymn…did I already de-value the car by adding the gen 3 intakes? They had to dremel a bigger hole

Besides the 370z being in it's 137th year if production, the car is absolutely hideous! !

Because there was literally nothing to like about the 50th. I'm a lifelong Z owner starting from 1972 240Z, and it was a complete slap in the face to the heritage. The fact that they even called it the Heritage edition was a further insult.

If you feel differently and love yours that's fine. I respect all Z owners (at least that take care of them and don't trash them with mods); but this is just my opinion and apparently, a few others based on sales and the lack of interest you mentioned. And by the way, I did own a 40th AE that at least was a much better tribute based upon the continued interest they draw.
