Congratulations. I would have loved to keep both cars but finances would not allow for that. You do have the best of both worlds, enjoy them.

I was a kid at Raceway Park in Englishtown NJ when the Blue Max was the first Funny Car to break the 300MPH barrier there in the quarter mile.

Thanks for the memory!

I'm curious about your driving impressions from the Z to the C7. My worry is that the C7 would feel a bit too big for tight roads and I'd be reluctant to push it.

I can tell you from my experience the Vette can easily be pushed just like the Z, if not more. The Z did feel smaller and therefore "tighter" but once you get used to the Vette there's no going back. That being said I enjoyed my C6 grandsport more for tighter turns and back roads compared to my C7 Z06. The Z06 just has too much power to really make use of and is really only good on the open fwy. The regular C7 with Z51 takes everything that was good about the grandsport and just makes it better and more comfortable. I loved my 370z sport/touring and my NISMO, but the Vette is just a much better car in my opinion. Can't wait for my C8 to come in on order.

Now if I want small, nimble, and tight then I use my 280z, but the power isn't anywhere near what my 370z was or a Vette. As small as the 370z is compared to a Vette it still felt like a big car to me, but thats cause I'm used to my 280z as a small car. Hell my 84 300zx feels big compared to my 280z. For me what gives me confidence on back roads is traction. Hence why I never push my Z06 unless I'm going straight. The 370z and my old grandsport and the C7 stingray are all very confident inspiring. I'd say go drive one, you won't look back

I have a 2017 Grandsport Vert. I will give you some of my thoughts. None of the previous Corvette's have ever impressed me. The C7 is really good. The biggest difference is the turn in. The front end hooks and just turns. It is really good. The backend can get loose on you. The nannies work good too. Not too intrusive, just about right. You have some adjustment using different modes. When I drove my C7 it reminded me of how the 370z drives. You can push it if you have the skills. Long trips are not that fun. I drive without cruise control most of the time and the throttle pedal is just too stiff. That annoys me to death. I have to set the cruise on long trips. The seating position leaves some to be desired. You sit up too high. It feels like you are riding on top of the car, not in it. You have less room in a C7 than you do a 370z. The cockpit is small and tight. I am 5ft 9in. It doesn't hinder me much but it does get on my nerve. If you are a larger person, this can be a problem. Hope this helps.

Really appreciate your feedback guys that helps a lot. I’ve been struggling with trying to decide whether or not to upgrade the Z to a +15+ Nismo or if I should be looking past that and spending a bit more for a C7. Ive never really cared for big power, I prefer nimbleness, lightness and handing that’s in a small package.

My biggest thing is I want to feel comfortable pushing it on the street without creating danger for myself/others. I don’t want to risk losing that with a C7 because I know Vettes historically could be a little unforgiving. My dream car would be a GT4 or Evora 400+, but those are WAY out of budget for now. I’ve even considered an 86 and boosting it but honestly that probably isn’t worth the headache.

With the C7 you can definitely hoon around in it without losing it if you are half way competent with a sports car. Like Spooler said, the nannies are not intrusive and not abrupt. They let you play with the car and if need be mildly step in to keep you from wrecking. But it won't fix stupid. I never liked the traction control on the 370z. Felt way too intrusive and abrupt, not intuitive. The C7 is very fluid in a sense that you can play without being penalized. Over step it too much and the car will let you know. The C7 is light years ahead of the NISMO and being you already have a 370z I don't think the NISMO is worth trading up to. Also the NISMO was way more jaring of a ride than the C7 is.

As for space, I do feel the Vette, despite being wider, does have less hip room compared to the Z. But I disagree with sitting position as I feel I'm sitting down in it, not on top. But I also have my seat positioned that way. There is some variability with going up or down on the seat. Long trips aren't a problem comfort wise for me but nor where they with the Z. I never use cruise control on any car so I can't really say anything about that. Don't find the pedal overly stiff. I'm 5'8, medium athletic build.

If anything, go test drive one. You'll only know once you're behind the wheel.
