I know all gas isn't equal across brands, but I didn't realize it was enough that he'd have a separate tune for Shell 91.

Nonetheless, Shell is a bit of a trip for me. Still interesting, though.

Highest rating for Shell Nitro V in Canada is 91 (ethanol free in my area). Highest rated gas is Petro Canada at 94, but with 10% ethanol. I use both during the season and Shell prior to winter storage due to it having no ethanol.

Here in MA, we have Pride gas which is the cheapest in the State, actually next to the cheapest as which is Cumberland farms and it's 93 octanes and I see numerous Mustangs, Vettes, etc high end vehicles gassing up there so I think the gas moves quite well.
Funny how we worry about what kind of gas we use but we have the worst "diets" for ourselves, all we have to look is around us and see it...

For street duty I only use Chevron or Texaco 93 octane I have done several engine tear downs and found clean looking engines with not a lot of carbon build up the additive (Techron) Chevron and Texaco gasoline’s use makes their gasoline a excellent cleaning gasoline. For track duty I use VP Racing Fuels Motorsport 100 (MS100) or 76 gasoline 100 octane both were found to be excellent fuels to use at the track. Nissan highly recommends using “top tier” gasoline’s in all Nissan and Infiniti models. Also I would hope everyone is using 91+ octane in their Z since over time engine damage is possible using lower octane fuels. Definitely be selective what fuels you are deciding to run in your Z.

This is what I was talking about earlier about gas being gas, but the additives is what sets brands apart. I will drive a bit further for Chevron gas bc of the Techron additive.

I've used Sam's Club 85 octane in all my cars since 1995 and never had a problem....

Just kidding guys.

I'm pretty consistent with Chevron 91 in Northern California. I think an octane any less than 91 would have its drawbacks and wouldn't be worth the $3/tank in savings. Edit: Shell gasoline is my second choice, but I haven't used it yet in the Z.

+1 on this. I ONLY use Shell 91, why? No ethanol. Ultramar and Canadian Tire say they do not use ethanol, but I don't know. Canadian Tire 91 has ethanol, I'm sure of it because I've seen that "may contain 10% ethanol" sticker on the pumps. For Ultramar, their 91 does not have ethanol but their additive package is no where near Shells.

Costco, hit and miss, since they get their gas from Shell and or Esso (Or was it Petro) anyways, it's a hit and miss. This one time I put in Costco gas and damn, the Z was pissed, she wasn't having it. . . Strange because my other car that only takes 91 is hapy with Costco gas. Hm.

Shell is the go to, if I cannot find once when I travel, then I go with Esso 91.

Used to fill the tank with Petro Canada 91, the mother company is Suncor, which is Sunoco in US.

Then heard about the 0-ethanol thing in this forum thus give the Shell 91 a try..

the engine actually runs better plus a tad better gas-mileage.

Thus Shell 91 is the 1st choice, Petro Canada(Sunoco) 91 is the 2nd choice.

I avoid Esso as much as I can cos it runs the worst in my experience..

This Is VERY Interesting To See What You Buy & Why - THANKS

Update: I "Made The Rounds" In My Area Looking For Gas
Passed Up Citgo, Valero, Gulf Cuz Stations Were "CRAPPY"
Filled Up At A Nice New Sunoco Station With Ultra 93 (Ethanol)
My Only Other Choice Is A Truck Stop That Has 91 Ethanol Free

Never Used To Be This Hard To Get GOOD GAS! - .
