I agree that by 3rd gear, the GT500 will be pulling past the Z pretty easily. It will take an experienced driver to make the GT500 stay ahead of the Z through first and second gears though. (and swapping for drag radials doesn't count a solution...I'm talking stock setups)
Actually the blower on the GT500 provides immediate torque beyond belief which is more important than the HP when starting from a dig. As long as the GT500 has the right tires and hooks immediately, by the end of first gear the GT500 and Z will be trading noses. By the end of second gear the GT500 will be about 1.5 to 2 car lengths ahead of the Z. At the end of gear 3 the GT500 will be about 3 to 4 car lengths in front of the Z.

You have to remeber that from a dig, torque is more important than HP. The torque response of the GT500 is an immediate jump to over 440 ft-lbs and is sustained as a flat-line across the entire shift band. That's more than double the 370Z.

Been there, done that!

Chuckd-5 - The guy probally had a Shelby GT. That is offically a Shelby car, but not a GT500.

Spearfish25 - I completely agree. The Nismo is too heavy; the 370Z with Sport package would be much closer to the Cayman S.

KevR6 - The TTS just FEELS faster due to the nature of the turbo engine. I have driven both and the TTS IS NOT faster than the Z. The TTS is along the lines of a NA Lotus Exige. Sorry....

The GT500 is an awesome car IMO. If I were still into American Muscle, I would have gotten one of them in a heartbeat, or I would pick up the new 5.0; that car is gonna be sweet. I have an RX8 now and, IMO, the Z is the perfect blend of muscle and sport car.

Eh..car and driver wrecked the nismo Z in that comparo...makes me wonder. I don't know what they were doing, i hope they were not trying to push the Z harder and harder to try and make a better time because...darn the hyundai wasn't too far away!

As far as walking away from a GT500 in a straight line with the Z....That would never happen with anybody at least average in the GT500. My friends Mach 1 can keep up with me and he only has intake and exhaust a programmer and crappy tires. Of course hes a good driver, but still his car is no GT500.

As far as lap times go, im not surprised at the 370z's performance now after owning the car for 10 months...its been bittersweet. Our stock tires need help thats for sure. The Z does not feel connected to the road at all unless you are pushing it hard (which makes it more comfy though when you are cruising) , but once you do that you need an oil cooler. Now i have yet to try different tires, and brake pads on the Z so i havent given up on it yet, better tires usually change a whole lot on the way a car feels...after all they are where the rubber meets the road.

- Hyundai Genesis might be not that far behind....run that car hard and 20,000 miles later....guarantee it will lose horsepower and torque...transmission they may last but engine...they sound like poo poo after they've been broken in...tik tik ping ping vrooom :P

7k miles on mine, and a drift run later, still over 60% tread left.

The Bridgestones are good tires, I expect to get 15k-20k out of them. Mine are the 19s btw.

I wouldn't take any mustang over the Z. Dont like the looks and the new one has one of the worst looking rear's I've seen to date. Back looks boring and almost feminine.

To each their own but I'll take a Turbo'd or SC Z anyday over a mustang, just need someone to come out with an affordable kit for the masses.

Camaro's and Stang's attract a different crowd, I'll stick with this one any day!

They can actually last much longer than that depending on the kind of driving done. If you do mostly do highway driving and keep you foot out of it you can actually get about 25 to 30K out of them. I had one set of tires on my 03 Cobra Terminator that everyone else was only getting between 15 and 20K on. I actually had mine on all the way to 40+K with still reasonable tread remaining. And it was my daily driver!

If you do alot of start and stop city driving and being heavy on the pedal they will last to about or near what they are rated to.

Same goes with brakes as well. everyone else was replacing their Cobra Terminator OEM brakes at 20K and I didn't have to replace my OEM brakes until 52K. I am a firm believer in jake braking and brake pumping. As a result I end up only having to replace the brakes every 50K miles on any vehicle I own.

i had the 18s with my car, and upgraded to the 19s.. i liked the Yoko advans better than the bridgestones, and at 1k miles the advans looked brand new still so im guessing they will go Atleast 10k
