Default First mods z34 2013

Good day gents and ladies,

Any recommendations on the best first mod between a set of true coil-overs (Tein/Kw/Stance/trust greddy/Hks) correctly set up or a full cat back exhaust (Invidia/Arc/Hks/Fast Intentions/will be doing true duel system)? either selection will be imported to my country. The question boils down to a little motor performance or a little road holding performance.. I can't make up my mind. The costs will be be similar except for shipping.

I have set of AAM Short tails on the car currently sourced from a awesome fellow forum member, cheers Chase. The rest of the car is bone stock. I love the exhaust note though, and would love the extra power (will do HFC and a tune later on) but I love a car that can handle its twisties and mountain passes even more..

Time for your input...

I will give into the temptation and feed this one...

Oil cooler should be you first addition. And make sure you remove the fuse to the steering lock.

To address your question...To do things right, you will also want various suspension arms when installing coilovers. So if I must choose, the exhaust will give you the better bang for bucks for now.

Should I remove the steering lock fuse in my 09? To be clear this doesn't stop the failure from happening it just makes it so that it doesn't make your car undrivable if it does happen?

OP, for handling. Get a Hotchkis front swaybar. Engine. A 34 row oil cooler.

He's got a '13 so it should be noted he has the OEM oil cooler and no steering lock.

I'd go for a cat-back exhaust!

Thanks for the correction on the steering lock. I just thought very little of the OEM heat exchanger that I didn’t even think of that.

I hear you, most folks here don't think much of it... I actually removed mine and ended up reinstalling it - in my case it has been very effective.

I feel like my 09 sport/touring has an OEM oil cooler as well, is that possible? It definitely has something right behind the bumper that looks like an oil cooler...

No oil cooler in 09. It does have a small power steering cooler, however.

Yup - that's what he's thinking of. I also mistook that for an oil cooler the first time I saw it!

edit: are you the original owner? an oil cooler is a very popular upgrade for these cars - so it may indeed be an oil cooler installed before you got the car. Take a picture and post it.

It's the wimpy power steering cooler that you are looking at. It's on the passenger side. The OEM heat exchanger (proper name) showed up in 2015 I believe.
