Big disappointment to Ventus V12 EVO2 !!

Sorry for my vain effort on my previous article ('How to keep a Z after married'). I just wanted to give you a light humor. Here is more useful information.

Default Big disappointment to Ventus V12 EVO2 !!

Sorry for my vain effort on my previous article ('How to keep a Z after married'). I just wanted to give you a light humor.

Here is more useful information. Now I am very disappointed to my Hankook Ventus V12 EVO2 tires, especially on its rear.

The rears have been worn out VERY MUCH from last Nov until today of this Spring. After getting my last maintenance at last year November, I have driven my 370Z just around 2k miles very mildly only for daily driving, but now its rear tires have only 3/32nd tread !! - obviously red. (at the last maintenance the rear tires had between 5/32nd~6/32nd: so between green and yellow)

Weirdly its front tires are going pretty good. You can see an attached screenshot that I got my tires checked yesterday. This is my first time to use the Ventus V12 EVO2. Before that I was using MSS sets and Bridgestone OEM sets (both sets for all four wheels) but I'd never suffered from this unexpectedly high worn-out even with several year and semester changes.

A technician who checked my tires yesterday said that there were too much air pressure put (around 40 psi) before he adjusted them to normal 35 psi.

On my last maintenance, I let the technicians to apply official tire pressure to my Z, and personally I did not touch my tires at all after the maintenance. I also can bet that no one else ran my car because I always keep its electric key.

I still have no idea why my rear tires were worn out so much in short period, but here is my best hypothesis:
1. Temperature increased when the semester changed from last Winter to this Spring.
2. As the temperature increased, volume of air in tires also increased too.
3. The increased air volume must have affected to tire consumption anyway.
4. Because 370Z is a rear-wheel drive, it gave more influence to rear tires than any other front-wheel drive cars do.
5. Because this affordable Ventus V12 EVO2 set had low reliability, its rear was rapidly worn out in this situation.

So now I cannot decide what tires to purchase. Before this happened I thought Ventus V12 EVO2 had great price-to-performance, but now I don't think so. Maybe this tire set is good, but not for rear wheel drives ??

Not only it has been worn out very rapidly, it also gives me more stress that now I have very obvious unbalanced treads on my front and rear. I want to take advantage of a dealership promotion to purchase tires in discounted price, but it is applied to when buying 'four' tires only.

If you're thinking to try this Ventus V12 EVO2 on your Z or any rear-wheel sports car, then I recommend you to think twice.

* I purchased and get installed the V12 EVO2 set (as new) on Feb 2016. But there was no serious rapid-worn-out problem between 2016 Winter and 2017 Spring.

So I personally guess that its reliability might have dropped exponentially from some point (with a precondition that the dealership technicians did not make mistake to put too much air pressure at some point)
Zbrah likes this.
