From there I had just passed the Windy Hill exit, heading up to the Delk exit and I'm the right hand lane and passing a big rig on my left (it's an uphill there).

Compact car swerves over right in front of me, must have cut over two lanes, most likely seeking to cut across the gore to make the Windy Hill exit. Brake pretty much pegged to the floor. I'm on the Michelin A/S 3+ all season tire, not a performance tire and frankly I expected to squeal, slide and have to back off/pump brakes. No squeal, no slide, everything in the car shifts forward (some stuff into the passenger footwell). I think I got within 8 inches of their bumper.

One weird thing I noticed was that the VDC disable had switched back to on. I'm not sure if the computer did that when the ABS had to kick in or maybe the button just pushed itself with inertia.

I don't recommend the experience (checks shorts) but the ABS certainly paid for itself today.
Gotta love ATL traffic. Bunch of crazies up there.

Have to learn to drive around car issues. What do you think we did back in the '70's. You adapted your driving style to the car. Not the other way around. Millennial's now adays. If it ain't perfect, go to their safe places.

A lot of people whinged about the clutch on the Z (before the Exedy upgrade, and they were singing the praises of the upgrade) but I test drove one without the Exedy and bought one with the Exedy and can't really tell any difference.

I would actually prefer a meatier clutch feel, the Exedy is pretty light for a sports car. Jumping back in my R34 GT-T and I'm reminded what a man's clutch SHOULD feel like. Much heavier and meatier.

The only thing that bugs me about the Z's transmission is the notchy 1st -> 2nd shift. I read a comment on here that said you either need to rev it to 4k in first and then it changes smoothly (it does) or be very gentle with the shift (which also works). Job done, if it is notchy now I know I'm not doing what the gearbox wants... and when it warms up it's smoother.

You want a man's clutch. Try a Hays Borg&Beck 3,800lb pressure plate. It will break the stock clutch linkage. Had one in my 440 Dart.

My 2nd to 1st down shift is notchy.
