Ugh, I wish I could wash my car. Not sure it's worth it with haboobs and sprinkling of rain always looming during monsoon season.

She's so dirty. :(

I like it more than I thought I would. Love the VK50, motor has plenty of low end grunt and pulls smoothly all the way up. The steering is quite heavy, heavier than my Z (275/35/19 front tires) and G sedan. The initial turn-in was the biggest surprise, as it's sharper than I imagined very little body roll. It shares 7AT and Akebonos with Z and G.

On the flip side, this car swallows gasoline. Car seems to be stiffly sprung, and the 21 inch wheels and low profile 265/45/21 tires don't help ride comfort at all. OEM tire size has an extremely limited selection, and many enthusiasts switch to 275/45/21. Trunk is quite small. The designer believed in form over function. It's not an SUV designed for hauling furniture. Think X6, not X5.

One known problem was one of the fuel sensors malfunctioning causing gas gauge to read empty. Mine failed @ around 65k miles. There's a TSB for it and cost few hundred bucks to fix at the infiniti dealership I went to.

changed the rear tires to new OEM Potenzas :driving:

Mines happily baking in the sun, and reluctantly accepting pollen deposits until this evenings daily chemical guys wipe down.

How many hear have just broken down and keep a dozen towels and two bottles of detailer spray IN the car?

My options:

A) Do nothing = nissan paint goes to **** in less than a year
B) Wipedown every 1-3 days
C) Do nothing, then be forced to claybar/polish once per month...

Is this normal? How is anyone else able to "Cope" when they see crap on the paint and just not even think/worry/etc? I'm still not in that "I'll get to that some other day" mode as of yet....

Open to options on how to not go completely insane until I can get a garage for it again or a car cover....

Did a simple first mod, change out the ignition button for the red GTR one.

Got the Z washed, waxed and detailed this morning. Then this evening ordered both upper and lower ported intake manifolds.

ChopsZ 07-29-2018 01:44 PM

Oh yeah, also attended the Central Florida Z Club meet at the Ace Cafe in Orlando yesterday. And it was pretty cool that I got there a little early and got to park right up front with the cool guys.

How does Junkman prevent daily pollen deposits on the car? I believe he has a garage.

I think he meant that unless the car surface and the inside of the cover are completely without dust, the act of putting in and pulling off the cover alone will put fine scratches on the clear coat.

Ahhh, that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying. Maybe a canopy (Walmart?) would help the OP prevent daily bee pollen deposits on the car until he gets another garage setup.

Jayhovah 07-29-2018 08:28 PM

haven't driven my car much in about 6 weeks.. BOVs were stuck and car needed an oil change but my garage was so full of crap from the remodel I haven't been able to use it.. finally got it cleared out and got the car on stands... one BOV was full of water (not sure how that happens) and completely stuck.. got it cleaned out and lubed up but then noticed one IC inlet pipe had a hole worn through it from where it was contacting one of the front bumper/fender liner/undershroud bolts! Yikes!

Swift springs installed and settled now. Michelin ps4’s come in tomorrow so I’ll have those mounted along with an alighnment. Really looking forward to putting these tires to the test. Car had Ventus v12’s when I purchased it which were low tread and slick. Ordered a racing bucket seat from z1 this afternoon, the stock seat is very comfortable but after sitting in my buddies Recaro seats I realized how little the Z seats hold me.

Ian B 08-02-2018 10:09 PM

Reached 100K miles yesterday. Bought her 6 weeks ago with 98K. Love her as my dd while my new 2018 Camry XSE seats in the garage for out of town trips only.

Well I said the heck with it and ordered up a pair of ported/polished throttle bodies, bored out to 65mm to go with the match ported/polished upper and lower intakes. Figured I might as well get it all done while I'm at it. LOL

The price for full Auto stuff is crazy.
More Demand than supply and has to be bulit pre 1986.

As the implications of Heller work their way through caselaw, the 1986 GCA should be declared unconstitutional.

Heck, the 9th Circuit declared Hawaii's blanket ban on carry was unconstitional! If that isn't a "pigs fly" moment in American jurisprudence, I'm not sure what would qualify.

PS
I wanna BAR too!

Had the Rev9 dual exhaust installed this morning. It was $350 shipped and I hope that makes you angry. I'm happy to pay for quality, but I just had to try it since I was considering the HKS Hi-Power for 3x the price.

It's 304 stainless with mandrel bends and the shop commented that the flanges and hardware/gaskets provided were nice ones. The welds and build quality looked really good to me. They said it installed very easily and lined up without a problem.

Chose Rev9 since it looked to be nicer than the other ones on eBay, didn't like how others put the helmholtz resonator's bracket on the bottom. This one puts it on top like HKS does. Also prefer dual walled stainless tips vs the single walled titanium. Was well packaged and shipped from California to Texas without issue.

I was ready to hate it and buy the "real" exhaust, but... it's pretty nice. I'm very pleasantly surprised. Nice rumble at idle, no drone, quite when cruising, loud WOT, a little gargling on the overrun, but it's still breaking in so will see.

Interesting to see how your experience differed. Mine was kinda quiet at high rpms and not beefy also made a weird air rushing sound too, no leaks. Mine also had a drone and it wasn't a nice drone, kinda like what you'd expect from a honda when you get into lower gears but higher rpms. I've since gone with another exhaust that I absolutely love that hasn't left me wanting more besides awaiting my test pipes to compliment :driving:

CRiZO 08-08-2018 01:09 PM

Honestly I'm still on the fence with it. I wanted something that was just a tad more aggressive than OEM. And to get that "VQ sound" which it did. This one basically changed the entire character of the car though. Used to be all induction and rpms, now it's pretty exhaust heavy. I'm coming from turbo cars, so I'm still getting used to it.

What'd you switch to?
