Last night I had my first experience with a farting Honda pulling up beside me on the Interstate and very obviously trying to get me to race.

What the hell is wrong with people?

Probably just mad mommy and daddy wouldn't buy him a lifted brotruck. The way Z prices are falling, we will have the same crown soon. :ugh2:

I get this all the time. I just let them act stupid while I laugh.

Decided to try and tackle the cats...

Ahh yes. Demon bolts. 5-6 hrs of lifting the car, removing intakes, putting it back in.. bought an impact gun and extentions.. drove to a buddies to tackle with the impact since i dont have a compressor.. only one came out-passenger side..
Now now the driver side is definetly not wanting to come out. For 500lbs of tq we thought we were going to beat it! Nope
Maybe next time unless I can find a shop to just tackle that bolt- anyone know how much a shop would charge just to get the bolt out? I wouldnt mind having them put it on but.. california.

I tried using an impact too, just get a big cheater bar and put a pipe on it. Once I did this the bolts came right off, and using penetrating oil, constant torque seems to work better than an impact.

radix023 06-17-2017 06:49 AM

If they really are frozen, a mechanic can do the "hot wrench" maneuver with a torch. You were replacing those bolts anyways.

Skinzaholic 06-17-2017 10:04 AM

I put a good penetrating oil on mine several days in a row leading up to my swap. I was pleased that they came out with little effort.
I had more trouble with other bolts on the exhaust that I didn't treat before hand

DeliriousClam 06-17-2017 03:26 PM

Didn't do anything to my Z besides fill the gas tank. Had a 2016 370z come in today to get work done though

jchammond 06-17-2017 05:35 PM

Changed oil & filter,looked over,ck'd wheel torque...all good@82,570

Right on! Checking it out now. Been partying in Key West since Friday... finally getting caught back up on the community goings-on while my flight home continues to get delayed...

Had to swing by the grocery store on the way home. Ugg. Buggy full of groceries, had to stuff them in the car. LOL The things we get hornswoggled into by the wife.

I was laughing the whole time.

ChopsZ 06-20-2017 12:28 AM

Did my first "long-ish" drive today since having the full exhaust and tune done on the Z. Was 35 miles each way highway driving. While on the first leg of the trip (training class in Tampa), went out for lunch and the "Service Engine Soon" light came on.

I always have my Bluetooth OBDII in the car, so hooked it up and found the code P2906. So as I sat there eating my Big Mac, I cleared the code. Drove back home in the evening and all was fine.

Now Seb told me that his Ecutek tunes were supposed to get rid of those CAT codes and such when running test pipes, not to mention one of the reasons I went with the ART pipes is that they are supposed to avoid CEL's.

I've had these ART pipes on the car for over 4 months and this is the first time this has happened. In fact, this is the first ever CEL I've had with my Z.

I guess I'll shoot Seb an email and see what he has to say about it.

I wonder if it's an O2 sensor? Don't believe I've heard a case of ART pipes tripping a code, and that's from personal experience as well.

Just thinking out loud..

HIZZY 06-20-2017 01:30 PM

scheduled an appointment for tomorrow morning to get my Z tinted

will post before and after shots

That's what I thought as well, but today, in the same situation, at the same time. Let out for lunch during training, and... P2096 and P2098 today.

I also had a typo in my first post and said "P2906". When I sent Sebastian an email last night, I even typed it wrong. That's what I get for doing things at 1 am and half asleep. LOL

Of course, I cleared them out again before coming home...

I'm willing to bet the gaskets around the cat aren't making a full seal. That's what happened with mine when I got those codes

I'm running Motordyne ART test pipes, and the last time I was under the car, we double checked and re-torqued all of the bolts on the exhaust system from the stock manifolds back. So not too sure that it's a gasket leak.

ChaseZ 06-20-2017 10:55 PM

Check the v-bands too. I had to tighten just about all my Motordyne v-bands this summer, after less than a year. One even needed a bit of RTV. Bunch of little leaks that could only find in a smoke test.

Ghostvette 06-21-2017 07:45 AM

Replacement dash cam arrived last night. :ugh2:

Installed and set all parameters, including date & time. :eekdance:

This morning, fired up the car, dash cam starts.....................

Date & time are correct..... :happydance:

Hotrodz 06-21-2017 08:52 AM

Which dash cam did you get?

The Spy-Tec G1W-C

This one may be a 'temporary' one, at least until I decide on whether I run a dual channel with GPS so I have speed and rear coverage. It would be nice if I could access the vehicle black box so I can have the state of the lights and turn signals integrated into the recording, but that's a whole other level of 'holy crap... do I really need this?...' :bowrofl:

No V-bands in my setup. Just the stock manifolds to the ART pipes to the HKS High-Power exhaust. All gaskets present and all bolts/nuts tight.

I just admitted to having tight nuts. LOL

NRGz 06-22-2017 06:57 PM

After a week of PB blast on the demon bolts I ended up breaking one. Luckily it broke a little pass where they meet. FI RHFC went on. Soundssssssssss amazzzinggggggggggg by the way. I think i have a leak when i unbolted the y pipe though.
It feels like it runs a little rough though from going from a stop on the low end.
A new tune we go after i find the leak!
