Drove back to Knoxville from Atlanta, and to my surprise I saw 3 370z, usually, I do not see any...

Same in my neck of the woods but see TONS of 'Vettes, Camaros, and the Dodge boys. I usually comment to the wife on how cute their rear tire widths are! :p

Picked it up from my shop after 2.5 weeks. Supercharger and VR30 transmission now installed. Still have a few remote tuning iterations to go, but smiles already.

SeeThruHead 07-17-2022 05:26 PM

Finished up my scheduled track stuff.
Today was PADA auto slalom.

The track:
( Click to show/hide )

Really fun, I think I came in close to last. Tried wearing my motorcycle helmet but it has a bunch of aero stuff at the back, not a good fit in the car. Need a helmet with a flat back now.

Shannonville HPDE session was awesome. The in class was useless but the instructions was great.
Lost clutch pressure a bunch, need to put 600 clutch fluid in.
And my oil temps were up at 140 degrees. Oil cooler has to go in before next season.

Going to finish out the auto slalom series this year, theres 4 more events.
Maybe one more HPDE as well.

EDIT:

oh and my maf issue was.... the shop didn't install the intake tube properly after installing the engine mounts.

abm89 07-21-2022 07:12 PM

Ordered some new Rear O2 Sensors. It just dawned on me that if my AFRs look fine from the tune, those could still cause the P2A00 and P2A03 codes according to the FSM. They have years of soot from running test pipes and they just could be **** now even with HFCs. I saw from my data that a sensor will just straight up drop to 0V on the logs.

Should be an easy install while i do my side skirts. I just need motivation to wake up to do it this weekend. It's way too hot down here.

abm89 07-22-2022 08:25 PM

Got my skirts installed. they're alright i guess. way better than my stock ones as far as condition. Also installed my new secondary O2 sensors. I think we still need to re-adjust the 93-base for the FF map because im on E23 and it's RICH lol. Either way, no driving until i get the nail out of my 305.... im about to bill the HOA for this ****. people doing work and not cleaning up, smh.

abm89 07-24-2022 09:33 AM

Update: The car auto-corrected the fuel trims once i drove it around more lol. Now im not used to the lack of response on 93 hahaha. Oh well. once every few tanks isn't too bad.

I think the Downstream O2 sensors fixed the CEL. so far, no DTC codes.

Replaced my old dirty Z1 filters with new ones and restored my headlights. Removing them really helped me do a better job than last time 2 years ago. Also it was the Meguiar's kit instead of the 3M one so maybe it'll stay clear longer this time.

I recently used the Meguiars kit on my mom's Z. So far so good.

Do you know what your intake temps are? Do you still have the foam impact absorber in your bumper? I ordered a new one thinking it can isolate the intakes from the heat a little better.

Ben370 07-24-2022 05:53 PM

Yeah I still have the foam impact absorber. Don't know the temps.

FWIW, all the foam impact absorber will do is reduce airflow to the intakes. If you want to isolate them from heat, get the Dewla DeZigns air intake scoop and put heat tape on the side facing the radiator.

I looked at that and it wont work with my driving light setup. edit: and weird 34 row center oil cooler

Oh well, it'll be ok haha.

Yeah I had to pull my driving lights too for it to work

abm89 07-26-2022 09:31 PM

Ran some logs for Seb. Even though the fuel trims auto corrected, he wanted me to send some E24 logs to him. No CEL since replacing the downstream sensors. NGK/NTK is the correct brand for the secondary sensor if anyone wants to save money and not buy them from nissan.

abm89 08-03-2022 01:52 PM

Inspection today. Cringed while the guy tried to pull in the car with the 6 puck clutch.

Passed while on E65 and all sensors enabled. Seb is the man!

Haha most places just ask me to pull it in. And it's only a stage 2 from Joe lol

Nice work

abm89 08-03-2022 06:34 PM

Yeah, i really only trust the Winding Road guys with my car tbh lmao. but they dont do inspections.

Next up, install my NDF windshield banner because it is definitely going below the AS1 line a bit (hence why i got the inspection done beforehand. I dont know why they're so picky about that when people roll around with TINTED windshields)

I am also thinking of going back to the OEM hood and installing the vent louvers in the center.

Also designed some simple 3d printed TPU inserts to fix the hatch springs. Now only need to push the button once.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...cb8b078aaf.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...acf3ce5d3e.jpg

Had a fender bender and wanted to commit harry carry... some scuffs on my rear bumper, etc. Finally got to wash her and use a claybar and only one tiny bump is visible now. That is some voodoo magic but happy again.

I put in an insurance claim for CYA anyway... now thinking won't need it.

abm89 09-09-2022 10:15 PM

Installed the OEM hood onto my car. My VIS vented hood is going to a friend with a TTZ (guru if you old heads remember him).

TrackSpec center vent is on the way as well as a carbon gurney flap. Seb is doing his magic wrapping up my tune. Turns out your rear O2s will mess with with it. I should have fixed them instead of ignoring it the whole time lmao.

Down the line will be some craft squares (i miss the small f1 style mirrors, though 2023 means the F1 mirrors will be bigger than my OEM haha!). I will also go with some MCR Canards to finish up the front end.

I found a 3d printer who made these for me as well. Really cleans up the strut bar mount area.

Also, installed lighted rear Nissan emblem.

I don't usually drive my z as much anymore and its been a while since I'v visited this forum but I still have it anyways I took it out today.

Figured I better get this done before winter hits...

Used this:

http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1665950438

Basically - pretty easy process: tape off area; sand with 400 and 600 grit (I think I did a minimum of 20-30 minutes of sanding per light); wipe off, then alcohol wipe; then UV clear coat spray -

** What's unique about this kit - is that the UV coating is activated by the sun, so you have to have the car out in the sun when you go to spray it **

A few shots, I'll give it about a 8.5-9 / 10... not OEM perfect, but much better than the nasty yellowing that was making it's way down the light from the top. Part of this is my fault - I forgot to tape them off a while back when buffing out the paint to prep for ceramic...so until I started parking outside I didn't realize I'd accidently caused some of the problem:

So - beats paying $1400 for new lights... I still am on the fence paying for those morimotos... I almost would rather have the newer OEM blacked out lights...

So this is my $30 fix... "allegedly" it should last a few years.

I also bought the kit from Sylvania but I did not use it as there are a few reviews showing that you get to redo everything after 12-18 months...

ZontheRocks 10-16-2022 04:07 PM

Looks good!

I’d rather have stock black out than morimoto, but still not in my list of things I’d pay $1600 for. Lol

markesc 10-16-2022 08:09 PM

I agree completely... well maybe I'll get those next year perhaps...

Looks good, I simply replaced the lenses with Morimoto (lens only) units since my OE lights are already modded and the reflector part body paint matched. Then applied a supposed lifetime UV coating.

markesc 10-22-2022 09:30 PM

So the Morimoto lens only - those do not come with a UV coating?

I still am debating popping these open to black out the chrome bling (I don't know what nissan was thinking) - how bad was it to open them? did you do it oven style?

For a first time - I think mine turned out "decent" but they kinda have a minor satin like feel to them... def. a huge improvement from where I started, but not the same as a new lens/oem

Not sure, haven't seen affirmation of it.

Finally pulled the trigger on the Nismo fuel cap cover. Buying on ebay from Japan is half the price of anything I found in the US at around $68 shipped and arrived in less than a week.

Very surprised it is of stout metal construction which helps with the price point. Compliments the OE bright silver paint perfectly and gives some joy when having to fuel up at today's prices haha.
