I'm new to Nissan's and the 370Z. I bought a NISMO 370Z, loved the way it handled. Now I'm concerned about this Oil change and the ability to do it myself as normal. What kind of ramps do have to use, and should their oil be used and who's filter. Just looking for information. I have always done my own oil changes on my Corvettes. Can anyone provide info where I can go to research or buy items needed.

Given that the VQ engines are known to run hot, I think running a good synthetic is imperative. Get a cordless drill or screwdriver and the right size metric socket and remove every bolt and also the plastic clips that hold the under body shield on. Pay attention to where the bolts came from as the ones towards the rear are not the same as the others. I found it easier to work under the car to take the whole panel off but some just take off the rear bolts and bend the shield at the crease. For oil, I have decided on Redline 5-30W, and for the filters I like the Mobil 1, part # M110. The M108 is the standard and same capacity as the Nissan filter, but the M110 is a little longer and with higher capacity. The Purolator Pure 1 filters are also highly recommended. Make sure to change out the copper crush washer with each oil change. I bought 6 from the dealer for about $10 so I'm covered for the next 3 years. I changed the factory fill at 1250 miles and refilled with Nissan ester oil @ $11.99 per quart and a Mobil 1 filter. When I hit 5K miles I'm switching to the Redline synthetic which is also expensive not not as high as the Nissan oil. If you have done oil changes on other cars you won't have a problem with your Z. I plan on changing out the Redline oil every 5K miles after that. I could probably go 7500 miles with no problem but I'm trying to wean myself from the habit of 3K oil changes with dino oil that I have practiced since 1971. |

Hi guys,
Just wonder about the oil filters ??? Has anyone checked the flow rate/volume on the different filters and if so, how about the filtering material? Does the various materials retain the same amount of particles and if so, how about checking the contaminants in the oil being drained? The old oil is what retaines the lapping debris. After reading the infinity forums on oil filters and several others, I am totally confused. I ran in the drags for nine years and built way too many engines. This was twenty years ago and with all of these new engines so high tech, I am wondering if any of the above issues are of concern? Anyway, I just took delivery of my 2009 - 370Z with the Sport Package and I am looking for any guidance I can get. |

I dont know what you guys are talking about, but i talked to Nissan service manager today and he said an oil change is $39. He knows the Z is a V6, but he said it makes no difference.
Also i usually spend $50 for an oil change + tire rotation on my other cars. But you don't do tire rotation on a Z (I have no idea why not) but that's even better. what makes you guys think oil change on a Z is over $100. |

Whether or not you change to synthetic at 5 or 5000 miles, that's your choice. But the last thing I would do is use regular 5w30 included in the $39 oil change at the dealership (unless you're getting a discount off the $100 one). Oil change threads are new and exciting.

If you want to put the wider tires on the front and the narrower ones on the rear, get back to us on how it behaves.
