Default Oil Change for the 370Z

I took my Z for her first oil change and I could not believe it when they told me that the cost of the oil change was $110.00. How much did you people out there paid for this service and why so expensive.

Dood! You live in LA! Hopefully the dealer is using Nissan Ester Oil ($12/qt) at that price.

My dealer offers free changes for life, but I'll never take advantage of that. Control your destiny by doing your own ($30 with a good synthetic and filter)

Nissan Ester Oil + charing you for removing the panel with 19+ screws and fasteners.

A local shop charges $20 if I bring the oil/filter.

Easy guys! it's his first post...
save some money and do it yourself or shop around to see if another dealer might give you a break.. you can use the search function, this has been discussed.

Hey, I wasn't harsh!

I just ordered Z1's oil change kit for the Z. That, plus the $20 labor my trusted repair shop is charging, it puts me almost the same amount as the dealership....but I know it's getting done right and hell, I can watch!

Avoiding my dealership at all costs!

If you include my oil(Royal Purple) that I brought in, it's about $65.

I'm going to do my first 370Z oil change soon (thanks to AK for his great guide). I just need to decide what oil and filter to choose.

It's only 4 bolts to pull down the flap - you don't need to remove the entire bottom panel.

makes it a lot easier though. and usually helps you prevent a mess because you're not having to try as hard to get to anything.

The stealership offers me 2 free oil changes, I'll take my own Synthetic Oil and they can fork out the filter.

If not I take it over my friend's shop for a free Synthetic oil change he gave me when I had the 350.

Pennzoil platinum= 20-25 dlls at Walmart
Mobil 1 filter = 11 dlls at Autozone
Changed by me in my garage with the help of Rhino 12000 ramps

engine runs just as quiet as with the overpriced NIssan ester oil mambo jumbo.

buying this car already I knew the oil change was pricey so this is what I did, as a courtesy I asked the dealers to throw in a couple of free oil changes and they agreed so I am going to bring my car in at 1,500 to do a first oil change, and again at 3,000. That's two oil changes they said they'll do for me for free as courtesy. So after that I'll swap to full synthetic redline and do it myself from then on out. I don't need to pay $100+ dollars to do a job that takes about 30 min to an hour. It's simply not worth it and plus changing your own motor oil can be therapeutic if your an enthusiast

People here have great liking to Redline synthetic, as far as filters I like Mobil1 or K&N. Remember to follow AK's magnetic drain bolt and filtermag. It gives you an even more peace of mind knowing there is magnets holding on to all that metal shavings.

hey kenchen I read in a thread somewhere (I wish I remember) People cut open a factory nissan filter and found that it has the same cardboard set up as a Fram. Ever since I heard that I decided to use M1 or K&N.
