I'm not going to argue about your opinion of Jalopnik and their relationship with Nissan (I don't read it nearly enough). I take your word for it that they may be bias towards Chevy or Ford.

With that said, I think the folks who read this article and say "Z BASHING!" are completely missing the point the author is trying to make. In brief, she's simply talking about the fact that buying a modded car isn't the same as modding the car herself. Buying an already modded car gives her the feeling that the car isn't truly her car--infused with her personality (obviously, someone else modded it!).

She loves her Evo because she built it, it has her personality. She doesn't appreciate the Z as much because someone else did all of this, and it has their personality. She could have purchased any modded car and the article would have been the same. She happened to choose a Z. Don't think too much into it, as the choice of modded car has little to do with this article; dare I say--nothing to do with it.

I guess I'll be in the minority here (at least on these forums, so far) and say that I loved this article. It articulated the same feelings I have when looking for a car. I'd rather build something that fits me, my personality and my needs. I want to have the feeling of accomplishment that goes along with that journey. I don't want to buy someone elses work. I'd imagine many others feel this same way. Kudos to her for articulating it so well.

TLDR; The article has nothing to do with the Z itself, it has to do with her love of modding a car herself and not purchasing someone elses work. Don't overthink things.

Kool good for you. I had no intention of arguing. But your question was directed AT ME... So I answered.

Well I, on the other hand have read every bias article Jalopnik has ever written and they're all potshot ridden including this one.... Hence my rant.

"I'm not going to argue"... lol Smh.

I actually like the fact that the masses don't "love" the Z... then I don't have to see a billion up here in oregon like all of the camaro/mustang/wrx crowd.

I get that part of the article too, but at the same time you have little jewels like this "and the Z uses its horsepower and torque with the efficiency and grace of a trash fire" strewen throughout the article that make you question why she bought the car in the first place lol

That's what I interpretted after reading the article. I saw nothing negative about the Z as a car.

Exactly, the article is littered with these little insulting puns covered around a real article. You'd NEVER find this shyt in a JALOPNIK Camaro review. Camaro reviews only get chronic dyck suckin'. Even during the first three camaro 5 years where there was a lot to dislike about camaro. They could barely find anything wrong with it.
The Z those first 2 years was faster and even with all our TSB's was more reliable. But Jalopnik still had lots of dumb shyt to unload about the Z.

It's a magazine for mullet heads.

The way I read it is that it didn't matter that the car she bought was a Z or any other car. It was the fact that its just not as fun and doesn't feel like yours if you buy someone else's modded car. For some people its fine to get one thats already built and a lot cheaper than building it yourself, but for others its the journey, not the end result.
