It's probably one of those things where the salesperson is talking too much or you've got the windows down or something during the testdrive and thereby not hearing it. It's also not prevalent on all Zs so maybe they drove a different car than they bought. Mine is barely noticeable; any hard driving or loud radio masks it very well. Some others aren't as lucky.

I just looked on the G37 forum, and one of the members got the "couldn't replicate" response from the dealer on this noise. They wanted to set up a followup meeting with a manager to talk "discuss" the situation. Maybe we need to take our cars into the Nissan dealers..at least some of them appear to acknowledge the problem.

All I can say is get an attorney and don't let Nissan push you around. Everyone who has this problem needs to step up to the plate, find a lemon law attorney in your area (it will cost you noting!) and go after Nissan. Even if Nissan comes up with a fix if you have filed a claim and have an attorney you will get compensation. It is ridiculous that Nissan is not trying to fix the problem but muffle it.

So you have a lemon law lawyer and they are free? thats good to know for when I get to that mile limit and if mine starts to do it.

My hearing is too good to ignore the noise. It's loud, distracting, and aggravating, so it's becoming more of a safety issue for me.

If there isn't a fix soon, I may have to go the lemon law route. I went with Infiniti for my G37 vs. BMW, etc. thinking for sure it would be more reliable, but this is the worst issue I've ever had in any car that I've owned since it appears to be unfixable (most likely much more involved than just the ECU) and the dealers are just doing a song and dance delay routine. I think Nissan/Infiniti is on the brink of becoming another Audi in the '80 with their defective transmission problems that they never owned up to. It nearly sunk Audi.

Does anyone know what the recorded volume levels are? I hear it faintly from time to time but it doesn't drive me crazy yet. I only have 1800 miles though. Maybe we can do what they do in the airplanes by using a noise canceling frequency until a fix is made. I bet or hope the fix will be something very simple.

Mebbe everyone gets together for a class-action lawsuit? I know nothing about these things, though. Any lawyers on the forum?

I just listened to the tone...... Holy smoley! If I had that sound, I would go bananas. How in the H!ELL do others with this noise bear it?

This would pierce my ears!

Well for lots of us it's our only mode of transportation so we just have to deal with it for the time being. I crank up the radio louder than I normally would to try and mask it.

This alone would have been something to keep me from buying this car, but lucky for Nissan it didn't surface until around 8500 miles. If I knew about this problem before I bought mine... either by reading here or listening to it on my test drives I can tell you without a doubt that I'd be driving a different car right now. This car just isn't good enough to justify dealing with crap like this!

Interesting, tonight I drove my Z, and I noticed the sound. It's very faint to me, but present.

Makes me wonder if there are different levels of "fail" involved when it comes to the noise.

You probably need to give it some more time and let the miles build up. There isn't too much of a difference between the regular 370 and the NISMO, so I wouldn't doubt that we'll start to see some complaints from NISMO owners after they run 8k miles or so.

I was just looking for another variable that could help determine the issue. If Nismos aren't getting it, could that indicate that the ECU is to blame? Or do we have the same ECU with just different software loaded on it? (I'm ignorant on that)

I just noticed this morning I'm getting the frequency noise on the passenger side. You really hear it when you turn your head, it's almost sounds like an old TV turned on without sound turned on. I don't think this has anything to do with mileage of the vehicle because I have only 1k miles on it uuuggggh. It doesn't bother me that much, but I do want this fixed. I'll bring it into the shop so they can just have record of another car with the issue.

Sometime I get that high frequency noise and sometime I don't. I noticed it especially on cold start and not moving. My car has about 1k miles.

I made an appointment with my local Service Manager to take a look at the car to hear the noise. It's coming from the ECU location, but it's tough to say if it's the ECU. It seems nobody knows the origin of the noise. I'll keep you posted on any findings.

Does anyone have additional facts about the frequency noise?

The noise starts when my car rev hits 1,000 RPM's, I can be parked, or driving
