Default Update on the high pitch noise

After Nissan having my car for over 2 weeks I was called today by Nissan and was told the following:

'Nissan is well aware of this noise and there is no fix to date'

Basically they are saying ohh well deal with it. In the mean time I have a car that I cannot drive since the noise is so high pitched it gives anyone in the car a splitting headache. Even after having a Nissan tech drive the car and say the sound is unbearable they will do anything or give me a rental car.

Work order:

I hear it in my car, but I fix it by driving fast enough the road noise covers it up, or, pop in a CD and rawk out.

I've got 4 CD's loaded with wma/mp3 files (all legal) - probably a good 8-10 hours worth...lol

I'd like to go with higher quality, but, I don't want to get an MP3 player with a 20GB HDD - it was the ONLY reason I would have gone with nav - lol

I refuse to deal with it. The service manager told me the same thing, 'just turn up the radio it goes away'. I don't listen to music and don't think I should have to mask a sound that obviously doesn't belong.

Sounds like a potential Lemon Law case. Review the guidelines for your state. They have X amount of tries to fix it in X amount of time. If not, you can force a buyback.

Already have an attorney, the fact that I got a letter from the dealer and had Nissan mail me one as well. stating that they are aware of the issue but have no fix for it makes the 3x law moot.

Wow. I'm sorry to hear that. Of all the bogus complaints I read in here everyday.
I must say yours is legit and I hope u win your case. Do u think its a problem from the exhaust system or some type of chassis distortion?

At what vehicle speed and/or engine RPM do you hear the noise? I'm just curious, and it's something to look out if I purchase a 370Z. Thanks.

Sound is not there when idling, as soon as you move the sound is a constant noise you can't miss. It does not vary by RPM or speed its the same no matter what.

I have driven 6 370Zs so far and I haven't heard it yet. Can anybody with this issue tell us the month the car was built?

My car does it but I can't hear it at all. However it drives my girlfriend up a wall and gives her headaches sometimes. She describes it as just a constant ringing, no change in pitch, no change in volume, just as long as the car is running it rings. For the people that can't hear it my guess is your car, and all the other Z's you've been in, make the same noise its just out of your hearing range. I was in a band through college and spent wayyy too much time standing directly in front of my amp.

There was another member on here that somehow traced it to a wiring bundle around the ECU in the passenger footwell. The dealer replaced the ECU and he said the ringing got quieter but didn't go away completely. Might be something to mention to your dealer.

I am not really that old and many younger people have been to at least one of those. I guess I will have to try harder to find it.

i can hear it if i listen really hard for it. My brother heard it first then pointed it out to me. But honestly i have not heard it since i tryed listening for it, i dont think it exists any more on my car.

If yours is loud enough to cause headaches, i suggest driving another 370z and see if its bad also. If both are bad then you may want to avoid 370z's all together. I suspect its just your car that is this bad or you have a different level of hearing than i do.
