Is he a friend or not? What was he driving? Details of the crash - storytime maybe? Pics? All in all I hope your friend recovers well. Stuff is stuff, it can be replaced...your health sometimes can't. Good Luck.

Probably not much legal recourse you can really take.
Just hope that he does the right thing and pay you for the rims that he borrowed if they are indeed destroyed. |

Chalk it up as a learning experience... you loaned him the rims so you rolled the dice.
He's a friend...be glad he's alive ! I'd wait a few days to allow the dust to settle...then oh' by the way him. If he offers you compensation from the insurance...take it and smile...don't get into what you could have sold them for...thats meaningless to him. If you feel inclined ask for $500.00 bucks and call it a day. Be reasonable...they were used...they may even be ok, who knows. |

The best friends you will ever have in life, are the ones you never lend a single thing to. Unless its being used while you're there and you take it home with you.
I lent my Nintendo Rc Pro-am to kid named bobby in 3rd grade, still havent gotten it back

Until insurance co. finds out he was street racing, and refuses to pay up.
Then you and your pal are straight up SOL.

+1 and even if he was being a good guy and racing at the track where we should be, you're still going to be out of luck with insurance. Most companies will not cover any damage of any kind whatsoever incurred while at the track. And trying to make a claim without disclosing the damage was a result of track driving you'd be committing insurance fraud. Basically, it boils down to how good of friends you guys are. I know if one of my good friends were kind enough to let me borrow something and I damaged it, accident or not, I'd replace it asap with the same thing or better.
