Lawyers of the370z I need your help!

Hey guys so I've kinda gotten myself into a tricky situation.
I let my friend borrow my Nismo wheels when he sold his cosmic racing wheels last week on the basis that he would use them for a month or two until he could save up to buy his own wheels. Thing is last night I heard that he was racing and flipped his car and is now in the hospital. He is scrapped up but well and recovering at the moment, but I have no idea as to the condition of the wheels, whether they be salvage-able or not. What can I do in this situation? I don't think insurance would pay out the accurate price for the wheels alone? or Im not sure, I just don't know what to do in this situation because I was hoping to sell the wheels. Any help would be appreciated!

If he doesnt have aftermarket insurance you wont get value on the wheels. Im assuming he flipped a 370z and its totaled?? I was in an accident with a deer and totaled my sti. I had volks on and sold my stock wheels... i got $950 for the wheels plus the value of the car. Ask him to try and get a little bit from insurance but I would make him pay for them.

regardless how he gets the money for the accident from his insurance, tell your friend to buy you replacements.

Why don't you just wait until he tells you what he intends to do before you start lawyering up? Or is he actually several steps down from being a friend?

Once your buddy heals up, pay him a visit and tell him he owes you. It's that plain and simple.

how can you race in california? i thought you'd fail emissions... what was he racing? A prius with nismo rims?

ok jokes aside, your first mistake is lending him your rims regardless of friend or not. i would be hesitent on using anything from a flipped car. others may disagree but i'm picky.

I'm with ken. get him to buy you replacements. although if he had to borrow yours and his medical bill... yea...

I say unless your friends finances magically changes you maybe S.O.L. :ugh2:

Good Luck!

I'm no lawyer but I think should pay him a visit in the hospital and get him to admit on video he damaged your wheels, now you have evidence to use in court if he tries to weasel his way out of it:twocents:

I suggest getting some flowers and sending them to your friend along with a tasteful and thoughtfully composed Get Well card and then bringing them to the hospital. I also suggest visiting him every day he is laid up. Bring him a Caramel Macchiato. Hang out with him. Never mention the wheels until he is back on his feet. Go to his house and water his plants. Do his laundry, Pick up his dry cleaning. Walk his dog. Clean his kitchen and bathrooms. Mow his lawn. Take his kids to school for him. Make a sizeable donation to a worthy charity in his name.

These are the things you should do.

He may be thinking of suing you anyway for your faulty wheels that caused his accident.

Count your blessings.

Pay it forward.

If he's a friend in the John 15:13 sense, then feces occurs. See onzedge's comment above.

If he's more like a Facebook friend, then you have been taught an expensive lesson. See comments by Trips and barncobob above.
