the engine note is great, it's a bmw so fit an finish will be nicer than the Z.

plus with the ecu upgrade it'll be making big hp numbers easy.

it's a much nicer car than the Z.

In retrospect, I should have gotten something a little more refined. dont get me wrong, i love my Z.. but if i could do it all over again, i would have bought a G37.
No- you did right- I own g37s but the Z is isn't as heavy and corners much better.

Onto the BMW comparison- get the Z or get a Porsche. I am a fan of BMW sedans but nothing else. Price out used Cayman's and then make the choice but the bloated Bimmer is not as rewarding as the Z. Now the Cayman-well a much different matter! Good luck- if you get "stuck" with the Z you will be drving one of the best cars on the road that, IMHO, "suffers" only when comparing it to P-cars. Goodluck

Talking

The Z hands down. Reason being,
1) Even if the bimmer were to exceed in performance it would be marginal.
2) I would have 13k for mods.
3) refined engines bore me, I like screams, grunts and jerks in my ride.
4) I want a car that's on the road, not in the shop. What good is a sports car if the mechanic shop has possession of your car more than u can drive it?
5) BMW though is a great performing car when its running but its way overrated. Just cuz yuppies prefer it doesn't doesn't make it the holy grail of cars. The way the car is reviewed vs my experiences driving BMW, I feel that reviewers hype it to a level of near unrealism while nissans up until 2008, reviews have been wayyyy underrated. I rather drive the underdog car.

My bad! I thought you were saying Nissan would still warranty you while modding.

I understand what you mean.

Definitely not. If I mod my car I lose my warranty. Everyone pays to play.

Definitely a wear & tear item w/ a little negligence on my part. No, the extra 15k goes into replacing my defective door trim. Sheesh.

thanks guys for all the valuable feedbacks that were left here. Well I got the Z4 over the 370Z. As some had rightfully pointed out, its not an apple to apple comparision, even though Top Gear and Best Motoring videos will want to have you believe.

Reasons why I chose the z4 over 370z as below, and my reasons might differ greatly from yours.

1.Price difference was not a consideration.
2.Need a more refined car as a daily drive.
3.Dual Clutch option on the Z4
4.Wanted a convert, the roadster version was on a indent basis and I didnt want to wait
5.I honestly have a slight preference for the z4 body style over the 370z.

What made me consider long and hard
1.Known HPFP issue with the z4 twin turbo engine. Got the dealer to commit 3 yr full warranty on parts and labour before I can have the peace of mind to get the z4.
2.I will not have as much fun driving the z4 compared to the 370z, and thats a fact.

Nice color, has a lot of character.

Great choice on the new rims - huge improvement!

What's next?

I think you made a good choice! You had excellent reasons. I also perfer the looks of the Z4 vert over the 370z vert. As to the comment about the long hoods...I laughed at that!...it reminds me of the long hoods on the old first generation Z cars. The Z4 has a good engine and you can make some great power with a ECU tune. I really hope you enjoy your new car!! Congrats!

thanks guys for the kind comments! One more impt reason I chose the z4, like what many of you mentioned, a ECU upgrade costing $500 was able to give me a 100hp gain.
Stock comes 306hp and 400nm torque. one chip, with an intake and intercooler is giving me 425hp and 500nm+ torque now.

Besides the power upgrade, I did up the sound system, which was crap to begin with. My one regret though is not getting a car with iDrive, the LCD in car system.
