Nissan 370Z or BMW Z4 s35i

Tried to find if there was any discussion threads comparing the two cars but nothing turns up.

Lets say you have a budget for a brand new Z4 s35i plus another $5k for mods, will you choose it over getting a 370Z convertible with the difference in cost going towards modding the 370Z?

I see this is your first post on this site so welcome aboard.There are many good articles and tips that have been thrashed over and over about comparisons with the Z and other cars.Also options for the Z and performance.
My opinion is the Z!
My advice to you is search this site and read up on the new Z and make your own decision!

The 370Z...hands down.

My experience driving both:

Z4 was very refined, the folding top is cool. The new design is far superior to the old one. The engine is very smooth.

370Z (touring/sport, not the roadster) was raucous, relatively unrefined compared to the BMW.

Both cars handled very well.

I preferred the 370Z. I'm buying one in a few weeks. Why? because the experience raised the hairs on the back of my neck. Fun factor 10 out of 10. That didn't happen with the Z4. It won't be a daily driver, the purchase is just for a toy. If it was a daily driver, I might have gone for the BMW.

Go drive both, it's the only way to make a rational decision. :tiphat:

Both. When the lease is up on my wifes Z4, she will be getting the new one. A well equipped S35i is going to be in the mid fifties though, once you put sport and premium packages on, maybe even close to 60. You can have a very modified Z for that amount of cash.

I don't know what type of mods you are planning for the Z. As far as the cars go, they are in two very different price ranges.

The 370Z roadster with touring and sport is around 45k whilst the Z4 is around 65k similarly equipped.

You could look on youtube for an episode of Top Gear where they compared the 370z (coupe) to a Z4.

This was your first post in this forum, and I guess I can assume that your considering to buy one of these cars...

If you considering which car to buy, please buy BMW Z4.

I rather see my Nissan 370z less in the street.

Please, buy BMW Z4...:tup:

lol if only top gear ever made a serious road test

i think if you want to just cruise around town get the Z4 and an AT. if you want to drive it, then 370Z.

ok, here in Aus the z4 is approx $120,000 and the 370z Convertibkle when it comes out will be approx $80,000. Big difference. The Z4 is not $40,000 better.
IMHO the Z4 has the folding hardtop which in my eyes is better thsan a cloth top for many reasons, although one drawback is that the metal roof in the Z4 when erect increases the Z4's centre of gravity, more weight up top. Both look great , although I think the 370 looks better, btw I amagine you'll be seeing lots of women driving the Z4s'. please don't flame me, but I see so many women driving slk and z4 it is amazing. The 370 I beleive will be a more rewarding car to drive and will stir up great emotional feelings, the Z4 with its clinical approach will not be able to match. Features? the 370 wins hands down, BMW will charge you an arm and a leg for items already standard in the Z. for the money you are paying for the 370, I beleive you are buying substance. For the money you are paying for the Z4 you are buying a badge, image and some substance too, just not sure of the exact mix. In the end I belive the 370 wins hands down, it is a lot of car for the money, being so often compared to cars in magazines etc with cars costing double and up.

Personally I never really liked the Z4. 370Z hands down.

coaster 10-26-2009 07:11 PM

370z for me!

370er 10-26-2009 07:19 PM

Yep, I'm in Australia too. I compared the 370Z with the Z4 s35i but to get the Z4 with all the options I would have wanted I was looking at approx $120-130k AUD, almost double the price of a Z. Had the BMW Z4 been in a closer price range as the Z my decision may have been different.

Steven 10-26-2009 10:51 PM

370Zed = raw

Zed4 = refined

In retrospect, I should have gotten something a little more refined. dont get me wrong, i love my Z.. but if i could do it all over again, i would have bought a G37.
