Local reputable tuners are a good source of info when building the car. Generally I would trust the stealership or you could always email corporate. if you are that insecure about information being provided, read the manual or get educated.

I'd venture to guess that the collective knowledge of this forum is greater than anyone you will find at Nissan.

This is going to sum up NNA's response:
  • Orange Peel - It's normal.
  • Throttle lag - It's normal.
  • Car won't start, steering lock failed. - Take it to dealer to get it diagnosed. Pay to replace the known good battery. Replace ECU. Then later realize there's a TSB for steering wheel lock.
  • Oil recommendation - Use Nissan's ester oil.
  • Noisy valvetrain - Use Nissan's ester oil.
  • CSC failed, lost clutch pedal pressure. - Take it to dealer to replace CSC and/or master cylinder. Possibly end up replacing the clutch disk.
  • Loss of power, high oil temperature. - Take it to dealer to get it diagnosed. After a few trips, get NISMO oil cooler, but voids warranty.
  • Intermittent throttle response. - It's normal. Take it to dealer to get it diagnosed. Replace battery. Replace other things. Then realize it's a faulty brake switch all a long.
  • High pitched whine. - After being told to make several trips to the dealer, finds out noise coming from ECU. Replace ECU.

There may be someone at Nissan that knows more than the collective here but I seriously doubt that you will get the opportunity to talk to him/her. The person you talk to at Nissan will probably be reading from a script and won't really know what they are saying means. From my experience, dealers/service depts will out and out lie to you.

Their answer will be "take it to the dealer"

Then if it's like my dealer, they will change your water pump and forget to put any coolant back in so your car overheats about a mile outside of the dealership. And they will overtension the belt, so the next day it explodes and you lose power steering, cooling, alternator.

yay dealerships.

Nissans certified techs also asked me how I got an R33 imported over here legally when they saw my stock S14.

Find a tuner in your area who specializes in Nissans or get to know a GTR tech or go here.
