You are correct! I drive 8 miles to work oneway on major surface streets. But, even though it is only 8 miles, the traffic makes it an easy 30-45 min so idling at lights doesn't help either. But I do take her on the freeway once a week to wind her out.

This reminds me when I was younger I had an aftermarket exhaust and a vented blow-off valve installed thus my MPG's fell to the floor. For a while, I was thinking that the "extra power" was making my car more thirsty. The reality is that later on in life, I realized that I was driving like a mad man since I wanted to hear at all times my new exhaust and blow-off valve combo and I wanted the entire town to hear it as well. So it was not the "extra power" what was burning more gas but it was my driving style since I was driving harder than normal just to be loud and obnoxious, but to me that was still considered "normal" driving. ![]() Cheers!!!

City driving (stop and go) traffic lights and all the other stuff in between is what kills mpg's. As a matter of fact I went for a nice drive all the way up to West point military academy yesterday with cruise control on (never went above 65 mph) and I was averaging well into the high 20's. The roads up there are in bad shape and there are hills all around. My trip was about 43 miles each way and I'm bone stock (well, not me but the car is).
