Lowest average MPG

Before some recent, um... sporty driving, I had reset the average MPG counter for the car.

Over the course of 80 miles, i averaged 6.8 MPG.

What's the lowest you've had your MPG for any significant distance?
- I say "significant" because it's easy to reset the meter and drive at full throttle for 3 seconds.

Whacha got?

When I was balls out at the track at Sebring I got 6.2. Lol.

Did u guys have a tune? If ur WOT a/f ratio hitting stock 11:40/1 then you can save some fuel if u tune to 12:70-12:50/1 u neeeed an oil cooler for 12's.

I managed <8 mpg on a tank once (120 miles). Stock tune.

I'm averaging 16-18 just driving like I normally do. Hopefully I'll get a chance to take it to Summit Point or somewhere similar and join the under 10 crowd.

Wow, I never get that low unless I'm on track. =O

My monitor is litres/100km and max's out at 40l/100km and track-days always max out - that is about 7 miles per imperial gallon.

This is still better than my race car (see my sig), which is 0.8 litres per kilometre on E85 in race conditions.

15-16 seems abnormally low.... Even if you're all local.

i get 16MPG all street driving. Since I did the 4.08 gears, i get 14 MPG LOL.

I have been using gas cubby app since I bought the Z, and over 2.5 years my MPG average is 16.2. I do mostly city driving and have 13k miles. This is in Lost Angeles.

sounds like you're doing a lot of short trips which will kill your mileage.

You are correct! I drive 8 miles to work oneway on major surface streets. But, even though it is only 8 miles, the traffic makes it an easy 30-45 min so idling at lights doesn't help either. But I do take her on the freeway once a week to wind her out.

IMO anything below 20 (in a Z) is abnormal especially since some of you have stated "normal driving". Even with basic bolt-ons and no tune, it should not hinder your MPG's that low. Now if you have installed an aftermarket exhaust and just to hear it roar you get on the gas anytime you get the opportunity, while still "normal" for you, it does not fall into the category of normal "normal" driving habits.
This reminds me when I was younger I had an aftermarket exhaust and a vented blow-off valve installed thus my MPG's fell to the floor. For a while, I was thinking that the "extra power" was making my car more thirsty. The reality is that later on in life, I realized that I was driving like a mad man since I wanted to hear at all times my new exhaust and blow-off valve combo and I wanted the entire town to hear it as well. So it was not the "extra power" what was burning more gas but it was my driving style since I was driving harder than normal just to be loud and obnoxious, but to me that was still considered "normal" driving. :hello:
Cheers!!!
