I'll hold off for awhile on doing anything (buying) until you decide what you want to do. OK?

A $400ish price is very reasonable for this product--especially considering how small the market is for this part.
I'm an engineer and have been working about 5 years. On a support contract, my company's external billing rate for my labor is $120/hour, so 3 months of my (full) time on a contract would cost just over $60k. ZSpeed will have to sell 150+ of these to bring in that much gross revenue. What are there, <5000 nismos out there? Making parts like this isn't very profitable, but it's really a benefit for our community. Thanks for making it Joe. I don't need one, but if I do in the future I'll be giving you guys a call. Are these still available?
If so, I could use a PM with a price quote for the black and silver! I was on the highway a few days ago, heard a loud pop, and looked in my rearview to see the plastic piece flying down the highway. Thank you Nissan. What a great design. Prior to losing the piece, I had to replace the full set of clips at least three times. The damn air pocket that is built up in that space causes the piece to pop off no matter what you do! Also, when it is off, I get a loud vibration from the entire front air damn vibrating if I go over 70 mph. Thanks! |

I lost that stupid cover and now that I've lowered the car it seems to increase the problem where the under pan vibrates making a noise at freeway speeds.
That panel covers a recess I see is built into the ZSpeed pan as well, only the ZS one doesn't have a cover like stock. How does this effect the aero? Is anyone with a Nismo ZS version getting vibrations? Is that fact that the ZS pan is stiff preventing vibration but not providing the same aero? Just questions.

This is what I did to stop the vibration from the under tray. This will work with the stock tray too.
Fix for the rattling front under tray.

2 things. First, In addition to the missing cover I was missing the 3 clips underneath that cover that hold the center of the belly pan to the car. I replaced those and now the rattle is gone. Rusty's and his guide above are a correct fix.
Second, I was contemplating which way to go, replace the stock panel which I was told is $200, or go with the Z Speed diffuser/pan at $399. I'd have a hard time paying $200 for a panel I'll likely loose again so just to confirm I asked the parts guy to confirm the price while I was getting the clips. He said it's $167 (could be the difference in dealer parts dept pricing) and he said oh, it's been superseded to a new number... "I'm say oh ya, do you know what's different"? He said "it looks like it now includes 5 nuts and bolts". When I got under my car to pop in the 3 clips, I noticed there are 5 holes in the pan right in front of the holes for the clips that hold the missing cover to the pan. I bet Nissan is aware of this issue and made the cover longer to also bolt on and prevent it from flying off. If I decide to go this way I'll post the result. Also this is just my opinion but if the stock belly pan has a cover for better air flow and to prevent vibration from pulling the clips out, I think the ZS diffuser should have a cover there also since they are claiming to have better airflow. It would have been easy too as there looks to be rivets there. They could have used bolts and had a simple flat piece cover the hole like factory

- 34.5" x 5.85" with 1/2" rounded corners. like i said, cost me less than 10bucks to have it custom cut in 1/16" ABS plastic with the rounded corners and everything. all i had to do was remove the entire splash shield and drill holes. |
