Talking Helping My Daughter Out With Her 370

Hi Everyone -

So I bit the bullet and bought my daughter a 2016 370z.

It had a Nismo cat back system on it.

I’m a go fast guy sooo....

I’ve added the Z1 Race Air Intake System
Fast Intentions non-resonated test pipes.
Replaced the valve body in the transmission.

I’ve got swift lowering springs waiting to go on.

She’s on the stock 18s I believe. I did add wheel spacers to the front and back.

Going to get a tune... which I need help with selecting.
Shorty headers probably will be last.
Definitely will do the intake but since it is plastic seems it would be pretty easy to do yourself. Any input on this?

And please... any other upgrades or tweak suggestions would be great!

Thanks Everyone!

Which shorty headers you looking at?

The long tube cai is a DIY job.

Do the tune after you have done all the intake and exhaust mods. I would stay away from Admin Tuning. He basically cuts and paste tunes. Get an e-tune from Seb. He's one of the best.

Oil cooler is a must. Where you live at. I would go with a 34 row. FI and Z1 are the kits.

If you want more ideas. Read some of the build threads. Dropping 100 grand is not unheard of.

with the Z or without the Z, Lots of power and things can happen quickly

Thanks guys!

Ok... I’ll do that for the tune. I have the Z1 CAI intake system installed already. Cut the crash bar notch and everything. I was talking about the actual intake on top the the engine. Z1 has a service where the get round off all of the sharp edges inside the intake which allows for better airflow.

Why go with long tube headers when I have the test pipes in already? Plus I have a bung for the a wideband gauge. Why not just get shorty headers and maybe a new x pipe instead?

We live in SE Florida. Hot and humid year round. Does the oil cooler do anything for HP? Also, what about a cooler T-Stat? Pretty sure as far as HP mods go we are just going to add headers and the intake and then get the tune.

After that will be rims and tires and then just handling stuff.

Sorry for all the questions.

Are there any throttle body mods for the Z?

Oil cooler is never a bad idea in the south. Won't increase HP but it will help prevent the decreased HP that happens when the ECU pulls timing due to high temps. Get a quality core with a thermostatic plate (I recommend Fast Intentions kit - stay away from Mishitmoto).

You can port TBs or buy larger ones. But the value isn't there IMO. Too much cost and hassle for minimal results.

Choice on headers.
LTH, either FI or PPE.

Shorty headers. Z1. But you have to use the DE test pipes. Stillen shorty's ain't much better than stock.

The Z1 ported intake has shown power improvements.

Oil temps are critical. Once over 240F. The ECU starts to pull timing. Then goes into limp mode.

.
OP, fyi, DE refers to the 1st gen 3.5 V6 found in the earlier 350z's.

Short headers . .???/ back in my old datsun 510 days ., short headers were called hill climb headers . all my 510 freinds had them,,I had long headers, it went from 2 to 1 just past the front seats (underneath) . I had the fastest 510 in town . .also the longest headers . .
I think short headers were good for fast small revs , long headers seam to give more wind out, as it also rev'd to 10K ( Home made LZ24)
