Are you planning a stop in Kentucky or West Virginia on the return trip? If not I'd be tempted to make your return trip through 129, tail of the dragon, and back up Blue-ridge,

I'd have to travel at least a few miles on the old Route 66.

Too bad they closed "Wally World" (or "America's Favorite Family Fun Park") after the Griswolds had their little "incident" otherwise that would be a good place to unwind.
Seriously, it sounds like it will be an "epic" road trip. I'd be up for a drive like that; but the wife, not so much . She prefers the luxury of getting there in a few hours; not weeks. I'd be like and would have the time of my life.Good luck with your plans and keep us posted...
