I think they meant $150-$200 for just your HFC install, which seems average for the shops I've contacted as well. As far as the intakes go, if you've ever picked up a wrench, the install is not very difficult and in the DIY section of the forum there a ton of write-ups/info.

Yeah, AAM charges a high amount for labor. It is quality labor, though. You can look up Hill's Garage, possibly Agile Auto (although they're more known for subies). I don't know if they'll give you a better price or not, but I've heard good things about both.

If you can put on a spare you can do your intakes. This is one of the easiest mods to do believe it or not. Don’t let all the motor components intimidate you. Spend some quality time with your Z.

In your email you said you were hoping to spend $100-$150..

I'm not even sure if you can get a side job done for that amount. We have these items listed in our system by the hour, although our hourly rate is higher than other shops, we have it in the system at 3 hours for HFC and 3 hours for long tube intakes, if it only takes 2 hours then we only charge you 2 hours. Again ,just going by the system. The system rates are overshot but that's to cover our butts when you have a broken stud or nut and/or any other mishaps. I rather over estimate then underestimate and we are stuck billing you out for more than what you were quoted for

I wish you the utmost luck at getting both those jobs done at $150

do the intakes yourself, pay someone to do the hfcs. The intakes are pretty straight forward just take your time and all will be good, follow the diy on this site. The hfc are somewhat difficult to get to so its just easier to pay someone with a lift to do it. that $150-$200 has to be just for one of the items to be installed not both. I think there was some misunderstandings going on there.

$150-200 would imply 2-3 hours of labor MAX. And thats a place that is seriously on point and can somehow do both the HFC's and intakes at the same time, likely.

Sorry, I dont see this being cheaper than $400-500 from a shop probably...

thanks for that. I was just a little confused because what other people told me about the price. Again, i was just asking.

i will probably try and do the intakes myself as you guys said that it's really easy to do.

Best quote I've gotten so far for my HFC/FI CB exhaust + uprev license and tune is $750 but if AAM wants to beat that price I'd go with them.
