DM, did you already buy your paint? You're going with the semi gloss black right?

I thought someone else was in charge of paint but I can go get my own. I want semi-gloss black though. I can pick it up from Lowes right?

Eh. I think everyone should take a deep breath and relax. This is as much about hanging out/having a few beers/eating wings as it is ******* around with headlights.
I think you should come regardless. There will be tons of food etc.

Yeah, Im gonna have to pick up my own too, its ok, its only a few dollars anyways. I'll be going with the semi glass black. Krylon Fusion I believe it is. You can get it at Walmart, Advance Auto Parts, and maybe Autozone.

I was in charge of the paint, but since I'm not going anymore someone else will have to take care of it. I was going to get Krylon Fusion Satin Black from Wal-Mart, but you should be able to find it at Lowe's too. It's designed to be used on plastic so it's good for the headlights. It's the same exact one used in the DIY's for this mod on the forum. You can go check out those threads for more pics.

dmhenderson 09-02-2012 02:06 PM

Welp, alright.

I was perfectly fine with that and helping out even if I didn't do my own headlights. It appears as if I'm no longer wanted there so I'll find something better to do with my time. Hope you guys have fun. Be sure to post plenty of pics when you're done

dmhenderson 09-02-2012 02:10 PM

I still think you should come but w/e

I might stop by if I don't have other plans at the time.

eastwest2300 09-02-2012 02:28 PM

Hey DM, Im gonna pick up some painter's tape, wax & grease remover (you use this prior to you actually shooting the paint, it eliminates fingerprints, wax & grease), and electrical tape (to put on the butter knife used to pry the headlight open).

dmhenderson 09-02-2012 02:48 PM

I already have a roll of blue painter's tape - the heat resistant flavor. I used it when I debadged my '09

Nice! Can I use some of yours? Do you have enough?

dmhenderson 09-02-2012 03:23 PM

Of course. I have no idea what "enough" is though. If you do buy another roll, get the thinner "masking tape" sort (mine is wider/thick). Can't hurt to have too much of that stuff and it'll definitely be used in the future.

eastwest2300 09-02-2012 03:37 PM

Yeah, I'll just pick up a small role.. We shouldnt need that much.

falconfixer 09-03-2012 05:04 PM

GD I just checked the first page of participants and it got a little smaller. :shakes head:

EW I'm really going to get with work this week and see if I can get that time off to swing by and offer help. I'm pretty confident that these will turn out awesome and I'd do it but just not my thing. If we were installing passenger ejection seats I'd be all over that.

Also, is mykindaguise still coming down? Thinking of buying his LTHs and would like to hear them in person before commiting.

Hell yeah man, please come out. You're more than welcome to, sh1t eat some wings, drink some beers, its all good bro.

12 days fellas!!!

falconfixer 09-03-2012 05:31 PM

If I can make it what kind of beers do yous drink? I'm a Miller Lite fan but with the drive I'll have to hold off on drinking. Like I said, I have some 'shine from WVA that is prolly better suited for the gas tank but is taking space up in the fridge if someone if brave enough to drink it. I can also throw some cash towards the wings.

eastwest2300 09-03-2012 05:41 PM

Im a corona kinda guy, but brother, bring whatever you want. It'll be fun, but I would say, lets hold on drinking until the headlights are done.. lol..

eastwest2300 09-03-2012 05:41 PM

We'll start drinking once the camera is out, and we're admiring our work..hahaha.

dmhenderson 09-03-2012 10:32 PM

Talked to my guy who owns the wing joint tonight and he said he'd set me up in cloverly so that I could pick up 9:15-9:30 so that I don't have to get them the night before and reheat them. I have no idea where cloverly is but I have nav in the car so...

Anyway, need a final headcount at some point late next week so I know how much food to bring. Also bringing:

-Vodka/redbull to keep me going but I will share of course
-picking up cheap oven mitts from target (and I do mean cheap so w/e)
-Krylon whatever semigloss black paint sicne blades isn't coming. I will dig for his link and buy several cans of the stuff this week.
-My own tailgate chair + umbrella complete with bungee cords in case I need them.

dmhenderson 09-03-2012 10:33 PM

That's on top of:
-Heat Gun
-Blue heat-resistant painters' tape
-screwdriver
etc

eastwest2300 09-03-2012 10:36 PM

Its Krylon Fusion, if you're doing black.. its the Semi Gloss black.

eastwest2300 09-03-2012 10:43 PM

Thats it, thanks Blades.

dmhenderson 09-03-2012 10:43 PM

Yeah I'll buy several cans of it. Manual dexterity isn't my forte so taping off **** would be a plus if anyone is available to help.

eastwest2300 09-03-2012 10:45 PM

I got your back bro.

b1adesofcha0s 09-03-2012 10:46 PM

It was my understanding that when you take out all the headlight components, the housing remains separate from everything else so you don't really need to tape anything off....

b1adesofcha0s 09-03-2012 10:49 PM

Yeah it looks like that is the case. You will only need to mask off if you don't plan on painting the whole housing black. If you only want to paint certain parts of the housing, then you will have to mask off the rest of it. If you're just gonna black out the entire housing, then no masking is required.

This is true.

eastwest2300 09-03-2012 10:58 PM

Oh fellas, just an FYI, if you happen to forget something or need a tool, that no one has, there's an Advance Auto Parts store across the street from my house.

dmhenderson 09-04-2012 06:58 AM

As long as you have a decent ratchet set, we should be good.

eastwest2300 09-04-2012 11:21 AM

Yup, I got that. Im actually on my way out, Im gonna go pick up my paint and painters tape.

eastwest2300 09-04-2012 05:38 PM

Fellas, I picked up 2 colors of paint for my headlights, Im gonna go two tone, its gonna look good! I also picked up painter's tape and I received my butyl rubber today from UPS!

dmhenderson 09-04-2012 05:59 PM

Do we have a caulk gun?

eastwest2300 09-04-2012 06:09 PM

Yup, I got one.. did you get your butyl rubber? if you ordered it on eBay the day after I ordered mine, you should get it tomorrow.

dmhenderson 09-04-2012 06:20 PM

Yeah I ordered on Fri.

eastwest2300 09-04-2012 06:25 PM

Sweet, if you bought it from the link that I posted, the seller, was very very fast to ship it out. I also picked up bondo plastic spreaders for prying the headlights open, I do NOT want to use a flat head screw driver, just for the chance of scratching the inside of the headlight.

Like that's even possible with Eastwest on the case. Funny joke :icon17:
