OK, so here's the deal, since everyone has the option to reuse the factory sealant, or buy new sealant. That option is up to you, if you want to use new sealant, you buy it and bring it..

Sounds good to me

Hell its an easy decision... haha...:roflpuke2: Im not gonna stress it, I for one will be using new sealant. And if I have sealant left over after Im done doing two layers of sealant, I'll be more than glad to give whatever's left to someone else.

All right, so I went to Lowes, Advance Auto Parts (2 different stores), & Walmart..

No one had Butyl Rubber, they had silicone and other stuff like it, all of which I didnt buy.

So what I did was, just now actually. I bought the Butyl Rubber on eBay.. I would advise everyone to buy atleast 1 tube. It was a little over $12 out the door & shipped.

eastwest2300 08-30-2012 02:24 PM

Oh forgot to mention, thats everyone that does not want to use the old factory stuff that is already on the headlights.

falconfixer 08-30-2012 06:28 PM

EW you found it in a tube? Link for those that want to pick some up off ebay?

I bought that today too, at Walmart. $5

eastwest2300 08-30-2012 06:53 PM

It'd be cool for someone else to have another, so no ones waiting around for just one.

falconfixer 08-30-2012 06:55 PM

Good deal  I got my work schedule for the new job and I work every other weekend and guess which one I work:mad: Was waiting for that to let you all know if I could swing by

eastwest2300 08-30-2012 06:57 PM

So you're not coming?

b1adesofcha0s 08-30-2012 06:58 PM

Would you still need a caulk gun for that? Looks like you could just use the tip that's on the tube itself to squeeze it out. This is just a guess though since I've never used sealant before.

falconfixer 08-30-2012 07:02 PM

yep that goes in a caulk gun. I have this weekend off and am thinking of heading to the meet in Columbia (if I'm reading it right in the other thread) but I know you guys have a big cruise also. Shado was talking about doing the meet and I can move this topic to there if need be but I can bring a caulk gun and show him what he needs to do.

Yeah you need a caulk gun, the sealant must be pushed out.

This weekend's meet would have been in Fairfax, but at the same time and location as the starting point for the cruise. If you're gonna come out there, might as well cruise with us. There's a good chance Shado might be there alone after we leave for the cruise :p

falconfixer 08-30-2012 07:12 PM

lol fairfax is a little too far for me, ya know gas is expensive :icon23:

However, this youtube vid is exactly what you need to know. I'm too lazy to find the link to embed the video but here ya go

How To Use A Caulk Gun and a Secret - YouTube

So easy a caveman could do it. Important thing is to wipe the tip cause you don't want your caulk everywhere

Prolly linked myself out of rep points but they are always appreciated:tiphat:

eastwest2300 08-30-2012 07:15 PM

Yeah Im definitely NOT a caulk gun expert, so the video will come in handy.. thank you sir!

eastwest2300 08-31-2012 02:34 PM

Hey fellas, just an update, if you need to buy that Butyl Rubber, if you go to the link that I provided on eBay, the company ships it out of Philadelphia.. so it'd only be a couple days for you to get it.

eastwest2300 08-31-2012 03:19 PM

Another mod to add to the pile sitting uninstalled in the garage? :roflpuke2:

falconfixer 08-31-2012 04:37 PM

I think the truth is coming out here. This isn't a gathering at EW's house to do headlight mods, this is a "since we are waiting lets install these kick plates. Oh and I got this other stuff laying in the corner. Oh and we can knock out this GTM turbo thingy real quick"

Sorry man, had to bust balls here. When you meet me you can kick me in the nuts for that

Masa 08-31-2012 04:59 PM

Its always open trollin' for EW and his mods.

falconfixer 08-31-2012 05:02 PM

I just went out to the car to see if there was anything special about these illuminated plates. Mine came installed from the dealer but I like to rip stuff apart anyway. The heat helps but all you have to do is start with the inside floor piece, the long one in the middle and get your fingers under it. Start to pull it up and it will pop out. The heat outside helps right now. The forward piece may have to come out to locate the plug if it's not right there. Other than that plug and play, man. Apparantly my dealer went overboard and 3M taped my kick plate to the body. It's not coming out in one piece.

b1adesofcha0s 08-31-2012 05:08 PM

I was lucky to get mine with the car

I'll be painting my wheels gun metal tomorrow at Bobo's place. I'll let you guys know how it goes and you can see it for yourself when we do the headlights

Don't know, this trolling thing is kinda fun.

2 options I can present:

1. I don't know if I can get the time off work until next week to come out for the mod party. Still some time out but I can't commit one way or the other but have to lean to "can't make it"

2. I'm down in the sticks of MD but if you want to take a trip to billy-bob country this weekend I'm pulling my bumper off and fabbing some covers for my oil cooler this weekend. Any other tihngs like pulling the trim pieces out I am willing to do on my car to show you how it's done. Anyone else is welcome. I have blueberry 'shine and can provide a safe word.

Kick plates are super easy. The harnesses are already there, you just have to uncover them. Entire process takes 10 minutes tops. I installed them on my base so I can help you if you need it (you won't need help).

dmhenderson 08-31-2012 07:10 PM

Wait so do I need to buy my own butyl sealant and/or caulk gun? Please let me know if there's anything else I need before I show up because we're closing in on The Day pretty quickly.

I have the caulk gun, get on eBay and buy that tube of Butyl Rubber, I posted the link, last page, or the page before last, order it today... it ships outta Philly, I believe. Its less than $13.
