Normally I'd love to go on a cruise, but I can't miss the NFL playoff games.

tivo ftw

eastwest2300 01-09-2013 12:25 PM

I think the first game starts at 430pm.

b1adesofcha0s 01-09-2013 12:33 PM

Yeah it starts at 4:30. NFL games are no fun to watch on a DVR, they have to be seen live. At least that's how I feel.

i like to record it, then start watching about 1 hour in... you get to skip the bs and end up watching the end of the game live.

eastwest2300 01-09-2013 12:37 PM

Randy, you coming to this meet?

I should be there, so she wouldn't be the only girl.

eastwest2300 01-09-2013 12:41 PM

It looks like a pretty big turnout.. To bring Nimso or not, now that is the question.

RandyD 01-09-2013 12:48 PM

eastwest2300 01-09-2013 12:49 PM

ahhhhhh, forget the cruise. The drive up is more than enough as far as a cruise goes.

Yeah, the dog hair thing's a pain. She's got those short little hairs that work their way into everything, too - my dog has the same kid of coat and I really hate to put him in the Z because of that.

Thank you. I enjoy these more indepth forum talks like I said above.

Honestly Most of these stations are "Sheetz" and they have all been rebuilt within the past year so I am not to sure on their practices yet as they are all new. I expect this trend to follow and more gas stations will be being rebuilt with an E85 pump. I use an Android app called "Flex-Fuel" and it lists all stations via google maps.

Ive been puttingtogether this plan over the past few months and really loooking into everything alot and I have a great friend who knows an incredible ammount more than I do who has been able to guide me. I think the most exciting thing with this build is that the HC1 turbos LOVE high pressure airflow so it is going to allow us to utilize really small manifold piping up to the turbo which cuts down on cost, less thick piping also means more room for airflow, and give us more room to work and do crazy piping layouts.

And Im 6MT with synchrorev. And yes Seq GBs are expensive as a mother haha. Like 9.5k for gearbox and transmission. Its been a while since I looked but I beleive thats what it was haha.

Just making sure you knew what you're getting into, is all.

Don't take it the wrong way, but I've known quite a few people who suddenly jump into the car game with tons of money, and are like, "I wanna do EVERYTHING!" - but they don't know what they are getting themselves into. Like, you see it at a car show and feel, "Wow, that's totally cool, I want to do that!" - I can understand that feeling, because I've been there before.

But, if your goal was to make a track beast, I wanted to know, that top mount would cause you trouble down the road more than likely. The heat soak could be problems, and could you imagine if your turbo seals went, or you simply blew a fitting with it there? Helloooooo INFERNO.

I'm never disappointed with peoples plans as long as they have an end goal, and their method for getting there is reasonable. For instance, If your end goal was to simply have a pretty car that did 550WHP? I wouldn't care what you did at all...a "numbers queen" is just that. Just look at every 1000HP Supra on the road now, that never see's anything more than an occasional 50-100 pull on public roads. But if your goal was, "I want to be a race car driver, and this is the build I'm going to use to get there", I'd quickly try to tell you that it's not a reasonable way to approach that.

Your goal is, "I want a fast car that looks good, and occasionally hits the track, but nothing more". Sounds good to me. Just make sure you do your supporting mods, and be prepared for the potential to wreck it is all.

You have any track experience yet? If not, might I recommend joining a good bunch of us at Summit Point on May 18-19? Getting your feet wet with it can't come soon enough. It's harder to learn to drive fast with a fast car, than it is with a slower car.

****, before I forget - so, E85 can change mixes throughout the year at some places. If they do, tune the E85 conservatively and you should be ok. If you make a tight tune, and that mix changes even a little bit....yeah...

Pricing it in my head, your final build is already approaching 25-30K. Your "FIRST" build approaching 10K-ish. But you likely know that already.

Yeah I completely understand. I really just got into cars recently in all honesty. I always wanted a 350z since I saw one when I was in junior high and then shortly after high school I was able to buy a 370z. I never really even cared that much about cars I just wanted something kinda fast and that looked stunning. However after buying the 370z things started to change and I just started reading and learning as much I could on anything automotive be it regarding this car or anything else. A year later Im looking to do a in my opinion a modest build. If I was going to hardcore track I would be doing my build completely different. But for the time to time I think it will do good. I dotn want to be the stereotypical car that never does anything and is just built and does the occasional roll race because I know those types and their cars and that just isnt fun to me.

I would certainly love to tag along. I dont have much track experience, im really young.lol I would certainly be up for any training/practice/tips and tricks I could be given. Ill look into this event or if you could message me any details that would be great!
