Confirmed (cast iron is often cast in sand molds). And, because of it's brittleness, will be much thicker than the stainless ("regular" steel would oxidize - see the flanges) tubes of the Z manifold.

Generally speaking you can tell stainless from non stainless by using a magnet. Yes there are exceptions, but high grade stainless steels are generally not magnetic.

Might want to have it checked. I've got over 100k miles on mine and have never refilled. If you had to fill, chances are it's leaking. Cause and effect.

Suggestion if it happens again. Don't shut off the car. Turn off the AC, roll down your windows and crank the heat on high. It will pull the heat out of the engine and drop the temperature...
