Nope.......just wrapped the empty plugs in plastic to prevent water getting in. I also bought gutter leaf guard at the big box store, (it's steel dipped in plastic, still looks good after years) to dress the empty holes. ( Cut to shape, and Installed from behind the facia with JB Weld. )

Easy way to get them out with air pressure. Use a 4" c-clamp on each piston. Have each c-clamp backed off enough the the pistons won't come all the way out. Hit the air and have the pistons move....
