Nope.......just wrapped the empty plugs in plastic to prevent water getting in. I also bought gutter leaf guard at the big box store, (it's steel dipped in plastic, still looks good after years) to dress the empty holes. ( Cut to shape, and Installed from behind the facia with JB Weld. )

Bunk managed to locate his name, and a little sleuthing shows that in all likelihood he's still alive - no recent obituaries in his name. We located him on Whitepages.com but it conceals his number...
