    If you had also mentioned the rather "harsh" engine noise as the revs climb, you would have hit all the gripes that virtually all of the car mags and reviews complain about the Z. I knew all of those...

    Yes. Taking it off and putting it on will cause swirls and micro-marring. It will be less of a problem if the car is clean and dust/pollen free.

    When my gas tank get empty, I fill it up. Other than that, I don't worry about my mileage status. If I was that worried about gas mileage, I'd be driving something different.
