haha thanks for the offer.
Moore auto will be doing the install and tune. I will be hanging around their shop all day "helping". I'm sure you'd be welcome to stop by but I doubt they'd be cool with a bunch of us idiots standing around drinking beer. |
So next question for those of you playing along:
After read MKG's thread - How concerned do I have to be about thermal wrap? I sprung for the thermal coating for the supercharger itself. What else do I need to do? |
You must always zone out cooling.
|
I wouldn't worry to much about thermal wrap I don't have any on mine and as you can see my numbers mine doesn't suffer at all.:tiphat:

Finalized my install/tune quote with Moore. They want an entire week to do it just to be safe. So I'm taking off Monday, July 29th to head to Moore and "assist" with taking the car apart. I'm dragging Cliff from Daedalus Customs with me because he wants to handle removing the headlights himself - since the last time the car was worked on the body shop broke the moisture seals on both lights which caused issues. Doubt I'm going to take the entire week off but I'm asking them to take tons of pictures.

So after a bit of talking with the GTM guys, I'm going to leave my fuel pump and injectors alone for a bit and run what comes with the kit I bought. If I really feel the need to **** with it afterward, I can always come back later. Full kit contents:
-Rotrex C38 supercharger -GTM compressor housing -GTM Supercharger Billet aluminum brackets -GTM billet aluminum Sc pulley -GTM supercharger cooler kit -Rotrex Supercharger Traction fluid -4-Ply High Resistance Nomex Silicon couplers -Stainless Steel T-Bolt clamps -2.5 x 10 x 24 Bar and Plate Core Intercooler Rated @ 700hp -Polished aluminum IC Piping -3” MAF housing -GTM Oil Filter Relocation Kit -4.5” diameter Air Intake System -Turbosmart Bypass Valve -Pre-made steel braided oil and P.S Supply & Return lines -All Necessary Hardware and Installation Instructions -GTM Custom mapped plug and play engine management for optimum engine tune and power . -GTM Basic fuel system with Bosch EV-14 650CC Injectors and - Walbro 255 Fuel Pump . -GTM Fuel Pump Voltage Stabilizer Kit -GTM Custom Drive belt By Bando -GTM Heavy duty Belt idlers |
I have the same injectors n pump with my kit. If I feel the need for more, the pump and injectors should be good for anyone wanting to play with E85 on a NA car, or anyone buying a tuner version of the kit.
|
Yeah. I'm just gonna start from there and see how it feels. I can always upgrade later.
|
I saw my name in your opening thread.. i was like wtf?!:bowrofl::bowrofl: Me, saying things?:roflpuke2: Man, you want a "show car." What you're doing right now, will get you to that point.

Liked Kirk's setup so I'm going with a PLX multigauge and daisy chained AFR/oil pressure/boost modules (oil pressure default).
Really love the defi sweep gauges but there's nowhere to put them except the A pillar which is a little too fast and too furious for me. The guys at Doran recommended a really high end multigauge (forget brand) but it starts at $1200 without sensors so.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Dash replacement options for a 6 gauge setup were just retardedly expensive so PLX it is.

Anyone want to educated me on pulleys? I requested the 88mm pulley with my kit and was told I would need to be careful because I would be putting down over 500whp but that it wasn't dangerous to the motor or the SC.
Was told the kit normally comes with a 96mm and there is also a 92mm option as well. Anyone know if going to the 88mm is a bad idea? |
Quote:
I tried to get the 88 mm pulley from Sam but he said the blower would be spinning to fast so I got the 92mm |
I just talked to Sam and he said on 93 octane it wouldn't be a problem. Should I go back up to 92?
|
go for moarrrrr powaaaaaa lol 88mm

always zone out cooling fgt. |
Well I don't want to do anything to endanger the motor or the blower which is why I'm asking for advice here. Anyone know?
Is 88 safe on 93 octane? |

Again he told me the SC would be spinning too fast and the life of the SC would be diminished |

"failed in tune"? What does that mean?
Why would I get 450-475 if you're running 516 with the same kit? |
Quote:
B/c mine is a Nismo, I had the same set up on my 2010 sport/touring and I made 470 put the same kit on my Nismo 516 |

Also I don't know why the trim would matter. It's the same motor. |

Wasn't part of the hp difference due to the fact the non-nismo was a 7at?
|
I'm gonna downgrade to the 92mm. I don't want to risk the motor and general consensus seems to be that there's a good reason they don't give you the 88mm from the jump. I can't see myself needing more than 500whp (ever) and blowing the motor up isn't on my agenda for this year.
|
500ish whp is a TON of power. I think you'll be fine.

Again, you're at 516 right? I'm assuming it should be about the same.
|
It will all come down to the tune, weather and type of dyno.
|
It'll be a dynojet dyno and it will be the middle of july so ...hot.
As for the tune, we're going to take the pre-flash we get from GTM and then tweak it. |

So you still haven't explained why you would be at 516 but I woudn't assuming we tune it...?
|
Seems to be some concern as well that at 500+ whp, the piston rings will fry inside of 50k miles (that would be bad). Any thoughts?
