Vehicle in-question:

First and foremost I want you to know that I have accepted the fact that I am a klutz. Although I have made some minor modifications to my vehicle (with varied success), I have left the heavy lifting to the professionals here. Those that were willing to let me hang around their shops and let me pretend to help, "thanks".

Cosmetic Modifications:
-Custom red LED pod interior and ultra white license plate lighting from JW Motoring
-Tommy Kaira "Hebi Bebi" shift knob
-GT-R start button
-H&R 5mm DRS spacers (Front only)

-KellyEFields hood strut kit (I love this thing a lot)
-Painted door handles by D&V Automotive of Sterling VA
-Custom quad LED halos by Oneighty Customs.
-Triton V3 blinkers and ballasts. Found out this was a necessity after I realized people couldn't see my front blinkers anymore.
-Authentic JDM Nismo carbon B pillars from ZCar Zero in Yokohama Clashed with the car's color scheme. Sold
-2014 JDM Nismo badge
-Evo-R satin/carbon front & rear "Z" badges
-P-Tuning custom tow bolt solution including: tow hook & license plate bracket.

-Pioneer 800w shallow mount sub
-Infinity door speakers/tweeters
-Black dipped coolant tank
-Black powdered mesh grille
-Keyless entry disabled (for safety - can be re-enabled)
-JDM slash rotor caps. Would not fit with new rotors.

Performance Modifications:
-GTM Stage 1.5 Supercharger Tuner Kit with black couplers, black intercooler and red intake powder
-Setrab 34 row oil cooler
-UpRev Osiris tuned (re-tune after SC install, and again after E85 conversion). Custom maps for 93 octane, E85, valet and fuel cut.
-Authentic Nismo RC front brake ducts with Stillen hose & backing kit
-Stillen G3 intake
-Z1 red silicone hoses
-Fast Intentions Hi-flow cats
-Defi racer red oil pressure and boost gauges
-Innovate digital AFR gauge

-Walbro 255LPHfuel pump
-AEM 320lph Fuel Pump
-Bosch 650cc injectors
-Injector Dynamics 1000cc injectors

I'm tired.

MyKindaGuise 05-26-2013 11:03 PM

Woot! Name drops ftw!

Good luck on the build buddy. Cant wait to see it finished.

Cell 05-26-2013 11:12 PM

stock height?

dmhenderson 05-26-2013 11:14 PM

Stock height for muliple reasons:
A) The Nismo kit is lower as it is
B) Dropped oil pan and...
C) The nismo Zspeed undershroud is like $400 which is just dumb.

dmhenderson 05-26-2013 11:16 PM

D) This supercharger build is almost at 10k with supporting mods and another 2k for coils would break me. Also..
E) those 18" cans scrape as it is. I don't think the car needs to be dropped vOv
F) Please don't hate me but I think dropped cars are dumb (sorry I'm so sorry god)

Cell 05-26-2013 11:20 PM

No hate here... I was going to do the same thing because of the roads here in Chicago are killer on cars that are low.

Its a hell of a lot cheaper than the oem plastic one for some reason.

Does the inter cooler for the sc kit get rid of the row hook mount? It does for the turbo kits.

dmhenderson 05-26-2013 11:37 PM

I really hope so. I will ask GTM on Tues.

Yeah.

SS_Firehawk 05-26-2013 11:51 PM

I believe you keep your front crash bar :)

Speaking of supercharger bills... I'd be over $16k under normal circumstances (+ install). I have nightmares of mine. All because I wanted to keep my headers :) I've been doing something similar in making sure the supporting mods are on the car or with GTM to put on my car. If you put down numbers like Baer, there is some magic going on with that 1.5 kit. They really need to name it 1.75.

dmhenderson 05-26-2013 11:53 PM

I got a crazy deal on install + re-tune which I can't repeat here.

Haha, likewise. Who is doing it all for you?

dmhenderson 05-27-2013 12:10 AM

Moore Auto in Fairfax. They did my exhaust/cats + tune last year.

Not doing it yourself? FAIL... :shakes head:

JK. Not all of us are mechanically gifted / stupid / brave enough to tear our car apart then think to their selves halfway through "Did I just fcuk up my new $40 thousand dollar car"

jlo370z 05-27-2013 08:51 AM

nice list cant wait to see more photos

Rusty 05-29-2013 02:52 PM

Nice. You've come a long way with it. Still more to go.

theDreamer 05-29-2013 03:05 PM

Car looks great and you will love the SC kit.
And I can tell you, being lowered does suck but I like the improved handling and just learned to slow down for bumps.

dmhenderson 06-03-2013 08:46 AM

Some consternation over the location of my future oil cooler. The Z1 kit won't fit with the SC and relocating it to either wheel well would interfere with my brake ducting.
GTM says they have an intercooler mounted solution (???) but will have to requote me. I'm going to call sam in a few and see what he says.

Also looks like I am going to lose my Z1 silicone hoses so those will go up for sale soon as well :(

Which hoses? I kept my radiator ones, the upper one you flip and the lower one works fine.

dmhenderson 06-03-2013 11:10 AM

Well the breather hose has to go obv but SS Firehawk said he couldn't keep his. He is also going to run a twin SC so I dunno yet

so jealous

dmhenderson 06-09-2013 06:01 PM

Spoke with the guys at Moore and they're confident we can find a workaround for the brake ducting kit/intercooler/oil cooler mounting conflict.

GTM basically said "yeah so there's not much we can do without your car in the shop". Considering the shop is in CA, I don't think that's an option.

Next up: Mod timeline followed by Christmas SC kit delivery date.

m4a1mustang 06-09-2013 06:51 PM

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :yum:

diddy535 06-09-2013 07:25 PM

Sorry to hear about the ducting issue.

But sub'd to see the awesome progress!

Nothing special here. Swapped the door speakers and tweeters with Infinity Kappas. Couldn't go up to 6x9s because the brackets wouldn't fit but I'm happy with the result.

Alpine 4 channel amp under the passenger's seat, Pioneer shallow mount sub in the spare tire well in a custom mount.

Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH HU with bluetooth and XM.

Ran the iphone cable through the glove box. The neat thing about this system is that other than the HU, everything is totally invisible.

Should probably mention that the bluetooth functionality is now worthless because the car is too damn loud to take hands-free calls inside it.

Headlight Mod Attempt #1:

So this didn't go all that well but we did have fun. MKG's headlights came out great. The rest of us? Not so much.

Not pictured: Giant melty spot on passenger headlight. Heat damage to driver's side housing as well. End result: $750 for a pair of salvage headlights off of ebay (mostly just for the housings) and a couple valuable lessons learned:

-Use a heat gun. Do not put your headlights in an oven unless you have a very large oven. If your headlights get too close to the heating element, they will melt.

-Be patient when opening your lights for the first time. Go SLOW. The corners of your headlights are extremely fragile and will chip and warp due to heat very easily. Pay special attention to the front points (closest to the nose of the car) and the "boomerang" area>

I would imagine there is a solution for the brake duct, there might be some extra cutting required. My only question is will there be a loss of airflow versus how they are ran now?

Running some short crazy radius elbows with 1" tubing. The ducts themselfs take up alot of space. And they point right at the intercooler tubing. This is one of the reasons I've not gone FI.

dmhenderson 06-10-2013 08:07 AM

I'm thinking I may have to get a longer duct tube on the driver's side and get creative with its location once the IC goes in.
