Actually, maybe a high speed ramp run would remove the dust? Only one way to find out. :driving:

Glad to see you got her all cleaned up:tup:

GaleForce 04-11-2014 05:32 PM

I picked up some black breather filters, and ordered fittings for the Greddy oil relocation thermostat plate.

Noticed a few oil fitting are leaking, not at the threads though. There isn't any tension on the lines that could cause the leaks, and rearranging the fittings make no difference. Guess I will have to order new fittings for the lines.

Also the rough idle was bad today. I tried to get make a video of it but failed. It's hard to hear the idle, but you can see the A/F start to lean out, which usually makes the car bog/want to stall/and throw a code. In this case it corrects itself before it stalls.

:icon18: I pulled it out of the garage and used the air nozzle on it to blow the dust off. The highway run took care of the rest of the dust. A wash is in order soon.

Two questions:

1 - How fast do you need need to go to get all the dust off?

2 - When did you switch to those mirrors (craftsquare?)?

jwick 04-11-2014 07:55 PM

That GReddy thermostat plate was a pain to located and get in but we finally made it work. I'll give you the details when I get a free minute

1 - Well... there happened to be a Porsche 996 Carrara convertible that pulled up beside me on the highway... the driver and his passenger was staring at the Z, probably trying to figure out what it was, then the driver decided to goose it (the Porsche), I think they were trying to impress us... my wife started to laugh as I downshifted to 5th... he didn't look very pleased once he caught up to me... however fast that was, that's the answer. ;)

2 - Yes, Craftsquare. I installed them last summer/fall. They have an amazing field of view.

Long story short it took a grinding wheel, sand paper, pneumatic drill, 10 washers and some bending of the AL angle support. I'll provide you full details when I download all the pictures from the my camera.

jwick 04-13-2014 06:04 PM

Check out my build thread and you'll see how I handle the GReddy thermostat plate. One thing that I didn't get a picture of was the final install location. When I originally mounted it I had the bracket Sasha made flat against the sub-frame. It seemed to work until I went to mount the oil filter and it won't fit. The solution I came up with was to incert five washers on each of the bottom two lag screws so it would angle it slight towards the bumper. That along with a little upward force on the bracket to get it bent a little more and there is a good 3/8" clearance for the oil filter.

Let me know if you need any more pics and I'll grab them next weekend prior to replacing the undershroud.

Nice! I haven't really taken the time to look yet. I'm ordering more fittings, then I'll tackle it during my next oil change. I'll message you if I run into trouble.

Sounds good. Oh and it requires you to lower the sway bar. I just removed the brackets and let it swing from the end links. It was the only way I could get a right angle drill in there. Not to mention it created a ton more room.

Every weekend is good. I've been drooling over that picture you posted of your Z and your truck. Also spent some time in the garage, trying to get caught up.

I did get a chance to do something for myself. I swapped out my breather filters to something more subtle. Black instead of red.

O&G 04-13-2014 06:55 PM

Good sh*t man, hopefully we can all meet up one day a drool over eachothers cars....Texas & Canadia unite!

They are supposed to be arriving in the US this week. Then they sit in customs for a week, then get shipped to the Canadian distributor, then shipped to me. :ugh2:

edconline 04-15-2014 11:21 PM

Man, what a process! Based on your description, I can rule out one brand ;) I am sure they will be worth the wait

Yep, not Status ;) . I do love those seats though, and I would have saved a ton of money had I went with them.
