New Dyno Results

Well finally after having my new Momentum Headers put on I got her tuned again today at Forged Performance. As always it's a busy place so I'm glad the crew could slide me in. Nothing like seeing so many wonderful builds goings on in one place. Love being there.

For a quick run down before I post the dyno sheet. The first time I had my car tuned I had Stillen G3, GTM test pipes, and Greddy TI-C exhaust (silencer removed). Take note that on Forged dyno (dyno dynamics) it reads lower than most dynos. I'll give a reference shortly. Anyways the first tune I put down 292whp with the above mods. Then days later I put 310whp on Z1 Motorsports dyno (dyno jet). So that gives you a reference of the difference.

Well today after installing Momentum Headers and retune we put down 316whp. So that's 24whp since the last tune. So that's a great gain from headers alone. Definitely the best headers on the market and the price makes it that much more pleasent. I have a good feeling that on Z1's dyno it will put down 330whp+. This is about the only mod I've ever done that I've actually felt the power increase.

You have to like it when you can notice the power increase

MJB 12-12-2012 04:47 PM

Dyno Dynamics = "heart breaker" dyno. Lol. No doubt SPOHN you would be around 330+whp on Dyno Jet. I'm having my momentum headers and test pipes installed at Uprev here in Austin TX next week. I'll also post dyno results. I believe they use a dyno jet.

Did you gain or lose any TQ?

Seems to be close to the same. Going to Z1 Saturday and put it on Dyno Jet.

I also just removed the inner door skin along with the window motor. There's a good bit of weight in there. This baby is getting lighter everday. I'm going to grind a lot of the inner door panel out to get more.

So how are YOU holding in the glass?

They still stay stationary. I haven't removed the window track and cable/ pulley system.

How are you going to lower and raise it?

Mike 12-14-2012 08:14 AM

probably by hand. Sh0velman, check out my journal to see how I did it.

Chris' way, leaving the cables and pulley is probably the best compromise for dual use. Mine are either in for transport/storage, or out for driving.

Yeah, saw your method, was just curious how Spohn was gonna handle it.

Mike 12-14-2012 08:16 AM

But I do seem to recall that they don't really always stay up with just the cables still attached. Mine were falling back down while I was playing with it trying to figure out which way to go.

SPOHN 12-14-2012 09:36 AM

Like Mike said. By hand. There's some resistance there. I might have quick removable clamp to keep from lowering on bumpy surfaces. There was done good weight savings there.

I noticed you didn't use the washer on the front link. I did as it squared up everything a little better and improved the clearance between the link and suspension. The rear looks like mine, full short almost. Looks good. By the way, what did you torque to?

I actually forgot to put the washer back on. I'm going to have to do that. I just get everything tight as I always do. I don't worry so much about actual numbers.

grant 12-15-2012 04:43 PM

The top nut is at 120 ft-lbs on the front. That is "tight". Bottom is half that

That's sounds right. I've never had issues. Plus I always check everything every few weeks. It took my 2' breaker bar to get the top off.

Heater Core Out

Heater core is out. It's not all that heavy. 13lbs. Didn't weigh blower. Feels like 5lbs. Now I have to get some dry ice to get all the sound deadening out.

Did you take a lot of photos of the radiator remove/replace process?

I'm thinking about doing a custom setup for a lot cheaper than the CSF.

I just have this mental block about paying $600 for a radiator with condenser when I don't want the damned condenser to begin with. I can get a similarly sized aluminum racing radiator (dual pass) for $230 shipped...

SPOHN 12-28-2012 04:27 PM

I don't have a lot of pics just a couple. It's really a very simple process. Just have to remove the oil cooler, power steering, (don't have to remove the lines just move to the side) core support, and wiring harnesses.

I am to. Not sure exactlt when. I have so much things to do now with the car. Plugging holes in the heater core slots, getting some dry ice to get the sound deadening out, and depinning the harness a lot more. Got all the harness out of the doors as we speak.

Mid crash/ support beam after. I trimmed off all unnecessary bracket that weren't needed any longer. Which was mostly AC controls, radio, and glove box. Then plasti dipped it.
