SPOHN'S Journal II Track Demon Reborn

As many of you know and have followed I have had a good build going until I crashed my car at Road Atlanta months ago. Since then it has taken some time to get back right (not on my part, lol). But I have made many great funtional mods since. So below you will see pics of my build before my crash and after. I'm going to try and keep lots of pics on the first page so you guys don't have to search threw as much to view them. My car exterior has taken a hole transformation that I should of done in the first place. I've added better brakes and suspension mods with more to come.

After

After two months and some good change this is the aftermath. Wish I had a better camera. But I will be having a photoshoot need weekend.
piston BBK up front, Stillen power steering cooler kit, and Amuse rear (rep). All this seems so simple but a lot of work went into this. I also replaced all rear suspension parts with SPL products (pics to come later). They truely make the best parts period.

Also as you will see the hatch lid is still off. I choosed to save myself the extra money and not mess with it for now. But will look better soon enough. Most likely it will have to be replaced. But it is a wrecked car and it's for mostly for race so it goes hand and hand.

Thanks. It should of been done a month ago. But the bodysop seem to hold out on me due to paying out of pocket. I guess insurance companies force deadlines and they had a lot of work come in.

sixpax 08-25-2012 02:44 PM

 the SPOHN beast is looking better than ever !

leighspped 08-25-2012 02:47 PM

looks great, hows the cooling with the stillen bumper? does it help with track temps?

Pretty sure it will help lots with cooling for it allows a lot more flow. Especially with the brakes being I run Stillens brake cooling ducts. In the next few weeks I'm removing the AC and will be running a CSF radiator while removing the AC condenser allowing air flow more freely.

daisuke149 08-25-2012 03:37 PM

Hi Chris.. check your phone..

frost 08-25-2012 03:37 PM

Looking really good! And :roflpuke2: at trips getting the blame for my shenanigans.

So we won't know much unless we do both and don't want to street the car :(

oh well, thinking about sucking it up and being one of the first track day forced induction ride but I gotta make myself believe it can be done first

Next move is diff and clutch then I'll try doing the radiator myself once the north easy season is over then maybe vented hood and stillen front bumper

To some it up let us know about the upgraded cooling

martin82 08-25-2012 06:07 PM

Sweet, should change that camel toe 5 point into 6 lol

Low boost supercharger is the better way. Turbos are going to be hard to control heat in all aspects.

tibal 08-25-2012 09:20 PM

Beastly!! Loving that front end. Everything is flowing so well.

ts-c63 08-26-2012 12:15 AM

does the car ride/feel any different after the crash?

No it doesn't. None of the major componets involving the the sub frame were out of wack. The alignment went well and the thrust angle is perfect.

daisuke149 08-26-2012 01:08 PM

SPeaking of thrust angle damnit. did you get my text?

SPOHN 08-26-2012 01:43 PM

Yes I did. You can have it back

Red__Zed 08-26-2012 01:54 PM

Looking good! Love the AP kit...freaking nuts.

yea im worried about that to, but im doubting a low boost superchanger is going to make the WHP want let alone the wTQ im looking for.

i dont remember did you have you hood before the incident? did that provide any added cooling?

Yea but it's not like up need much more. Even at 375whp you will be able to keep up with the Porsche guys on the straights. I can already keep up with them in the turns.

The hood is definitely functional but not to the point where the water temp gauge will tell.

true also i was ******** on a ls1 miata the other week at the track who insisted that i was already supercharge... but more power is always more power :driving:

i was looking at the hood for getting ride of heat in between run not really during. id hope stillen or someone elses front bumper to do all the cooling mid run. im guess the brake ducts were a success?

when do you have your next track day? interested in how low temps you can keep temps even at high rpms

Nice recovery :)

What's your long-term take on those Stance coilovers so far? They're looking pretty good to me right now on price/features, probably will install them (or something similar) this winter.

I love them. They well exceed my expections. I would purchase again. The springs are above most all others and thats the turning point for me.

HKYStormFront 08-27-2012 12:14 PM

looks good chris, i know you are glad to have it back! keep up the good work my friend

Mr&Mrs 08-27-2012 04:07 PM

Not sure how I missed this sorry about the boo boo! You held it straight for soooooo long! Did the wall stick out some more there? Also wtf did you hit on the tarmac that made it whip out so quick?

The new look is awesome! Glad your back at it.

SPOHN 08-28-2012 09:27 PM

Yea buddy. Phunks (CJM) fuel starvation fix came in today. Woot. Can't wait to get it in.

martin82 08-28-2012 09:30 PM

please report back on how you do, and how low of a tank you can go without fuel starve!!! I hate to spend a bit over 1K but if it really works.....

SPOHN 08-28-2012 09:39 PM

That's the plan. I'm going to push it far. Anything under half a tank is a win for us. I have a lot going on this weekend but I'll stay up all night to get this in and start testing.

Super big props to Charles or Phunk as you know him for getting this out. He's definitely a super busy guy.

EventHorizoN 08-29-2012 05:25 PM

congrats on getting her back Chris! She looks great! :driving: no more wet driving :roflpuke2:
