It took about an hour to do a paper fender template to cut all of the CF layer needed for the job.

Then another 3 hours of hand lay up with a slow hardener...
I should have bought a fast one on my last order :shakes head:

I wish I had the skills, time, money, and motivation to do this. Somebody is gonna be a lucky f*ck when you decide to sell it to move onto something else.

How thick are you making these parts? I want to make some canards and on ebay for a 12x48" panel I see 1.5mm, 2.6mm, 3.5mm and 4.4mm. I'm thinking 2.6mm should be what apr uses and strong enough.

It varie between 1/16 to almost 1/4''

the rear bumper skin is a 3 layer and some reinforcement at the sharp edge.
its very close to 1/16 *very flexible*

the front side large panel are 4 layers of (7oz / 9oz / 12oz/ 9oz ) which give about 1/8'' * haven't measured* *quite strong panel*

the rear large quarter panels are made with the same layer as the front side panel ( 4 layers )

the rear lower winglets are 3 layer ( 9oz /12oz/9oz ) and 2 extra layer of 12oz each at the mounting flange thickness goes from about 1/8 to almost 1/4 at the flange

those 90deg 1x1'' are 2 layer of 12oz. ( about 1/16 ) (half weight from the same L beam in Aluminium. )

the long L parts 5''x2'' are 2 layers of 12oz and a renforcement of another 12oz at the bent edge (1/16 to almost 1/8)

as far as your canard size ... I have a small plate that I kept which mesure .095'' , its quite stiff and should be good for that application (I guess ) if you go with that 2.6mm ( .102'')

im still new in the CF stuff...

synolimit 04-24-2014 09:00 PM

Just dawned on me, whats the thickness of the kognition end plates?

the ones that came with the wing are 1/8'' in aluminium, he has now upgraded to CF end plates now.

on another topic,

I received those goodies ! ;)
305 slicks with 18''x11'' rims.

I almost want to kick myself in the butt to have started this aero body kit back in January !!

I'm not working on this everyday but I should have !!! The cost has been quite expensive soo far ! But I also been learned a lot on how to make parts with CF & hybrid CF/Kevlar.

the right side has been completed and they are currently getting the final coat tonight, I expect a result of 8/10 for a hand laying process which will be alright for this first kit.

some part are getting a last layer of the Blue hybrid CF/Kevlar.
http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...g-prettier.jpg

I had the worst luck for the pass couple weeks, having to restart the front left fender TWICE from scratch. and the rear quarter had to get surgery to remove a 12''x10'' section because it was too high.....

Left fender #3 being used to make the mold.... (About time !!!)

yeah I did a good clean up in the garage today and I'm glad I had a full face mask because I wouldn't have survived.

Some neighbors was looking at me with it on, they must have thought I was crazy !!!!

hoping to have the kit finish in the next 2-3 weeks top.
There is more to come in the future (end of 2014/2015) but the budget at this moment is not allowing it !!!

Megan370z 05-21-2014 10:43 PM

Big update ! but short .. hehe

The aero kit is soon to be finish :yum:

- I haven't took a picture of the left fender yet but its drying up into his mold as we speak and it will be ready tomorrow to continue the work that needs to be done and fitting it properly ...

- tonight I started laying down some Carbon Fiber on the left quarter panel.
Starting with 3 layers , a 12k plain 9oz sandwiched by 2x a 12k biaxial 12oz
A final layer of the Carbon Fiber / Blue Kevlar will be applied this weekend

http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...ouple-days.jpg

I had some time at work during downtime to finally make 2 Throttle body adaptor on the lathe. This project was somewhat what was planned about 2 years ago before I blew the VVEL engine. but this time im going with an un-modified VHR intake manifold for some testing before doing anything more to it. But the inlet will be smoothed out for sure before testing it first.

http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...re-testing.jpg

- last, I finally installed the Cusco LSD into my spare diff with a 3.9 gear
a temp sensor bung for a pump setup as been threaded into the cover. it will be installed as soon as the aero kit is done !!! some SPL bushing also been installed ;)
its was my first time rebuilding a diff and shimming it ... a bit pain in the *** ;/

Rangerz 05-21-2014 11:04 PM

What did you set the lock % at? Dont suppose you can do a DIY on the diff install can you. Looking good Megan:tup:

synolimit 05-22-2014 03:35 AM

The adapter is to clock another TB from another car? What size? What car?

wheee! 05-22-2014 07:15 AM

Great innovative work Megan! Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Posted soon?

I knew you would ask .. hehe

they are replacement for the Maxima 09+ which is 75mm.
I made a reducer/adaptor because they don't share the same bolts pattern.
Hopefully I can have some dyno time in July/August depending on time and funds...

I set it at 80% with 6 springs running mainly on R-comp & Slick.
as for the DIY, I cant provide much more than what you can already found online and using the FSM... ;) its all in there for the proper torque and spec + how to shim and test the diff.

Megan370z 05-29-2014 04:19 PM

I finally got the chance to bring a nice toy home last night !

Megan370z 06-11-2014 09:15 PM

Guess what ?

New big updates !

Megan body work is almost finish and the last part is in progress which is the left front bumper overlay to match with the wider top fender.

Then the new temporaly splitter will be made !

Since I am moving to a new city & house the work involved into Megan is limited right now. Which mean not everything that I planned will be completed , like the full flat underbody, hood , ducting ...which cant be the top priority.

- Body work to be finish (90%done)
- Road race fuel pump to be installed
- Cusco LSD to be installed (and break-in)
- Oil change ( Engine / tranny / LSD)
- Street tune
- Will be running stock air box due to time restriction on prepping time and budget.
- Install Diff oil cooler

Once I get in the new place there will be more AERO & other parts made and added.

This must be completed by June 28th since I registered for CSCS.ca Event# 2 Time Attack in Grand Bend, Ontario.

This will be one of my last post into this thread.
Because a new Megan ver2 Journal will be created with the current setup and better detailed.

it seem like I dont have any lucky anymore,

This is what happened today at work during a Baseball game PT (military)

http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...ight-ankle.jpg

this happened at 2pm , picture was taken around 4pm and has got worst since then. so there goes my first few racing days cancelled.
I'm really pissed and while I was down to the ground all I was saying in my head was **** **** **** I cant race with a broken right foot !

No bone were broken but I kind of wish there was because all the force went into the ligaments being stretched and torn....

GaleForce 06-18-2014 06:03 PM

Damn that is bad luck. I'm sure you'll have a "speedy" recovery and will be back on the track in no time.

Hotrodz 06-18-2014 07:20 PM

Sorry man, hate to see you missing out on your passion. If you are an athlete you know the drill. Soak in ice water for twenty minutes and then in hot for twenty (whirl pool, jetted tub or hot tub! Do it several times a day and it will speed up the healing process. Get well soon!

Ouch! :icon14: Think you would have been better off breaking a bone instead of tissue damage. The bone would heal quicker. Heal quick brother.

Seriously though, sorry to hear of your injury. Flag football got me of all things. Torn Achilles' tendon after I ran and stepped into a gopher hole. That was two years ago and the surgery is scheduled for THIS September... Gotta love the military medical system... :icon08:

Megan370z 06-23-2014 08:03 PM

little small update on my ankle issue,
Im going back to the hospital tomorrow morning for a follow up and decide what is next. 99% sure its gonna be an MRI scan.

So far the bruise has been spreading since the injury which is normal afterall. Im kind of surprise with all the pain I had for 2 days and half even using some pain killer wasn't exactly enough, that the bruise isn't more severe.

My cellphone pictures isn't exactly showing the true color of them.
Its more red / blue-ish and a lot of yellow color

This one was taken on Sunday vs Saturday picture
http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...nday-ankle.jpg

Tonight I discovered another bruise under the foot!

I wont be posting any foot picture hehe.

At first I thought shzt! Megans doctor sewed thumbs to his feet:nutswinger: gives a whole new perspective of heel toeing on the down shift.

Heal up quick Megan looks like a class 3 sprain. Painfull but, once it starts healing no biggy. And do the rehab exercises the doc says to do.
