There's a photo showing the pile of crap we pulled out, I didn't bother taking photos of each piece laid out so you can see. Basically took everything from the rear bumper to the firewall out except:

  • Door Panels
  • Seats
  • Headliner and accessories
  • Dash

SPOHN 05-29-2012 11:10 AM

I'd like to see a pic with the dashed removed. Now you going to make me do this.

Sh0velMan 05-29-2012 11:17 AM

Ha! Me too! We are a ways away from taking the dash out.

Nice-
That is pretty much what I have taken out of mine. Did you notice a difference at all? Pull the wiper fluid reservoir too you will get 4-5lbs out of it. How did the auto-x go? Def makes you realize what you need to do to set up your car. lol

Haven't had a wiper reservoir in a while, lmao!

Yeah noticeable difference for sure. The car sits almost an inch higher in the back... It feels much more lively in the handling department, less prone to understeer.

The Auto-X was a learning experience, we didn't come in last, but close. Just goes to show that $$$ spent on power is wasted when you go to the autocross event. We're going to focus on efficiency improvement and stiffening over the next several months. Hoping to have a full cage in it by the end of the summer along with a custom exhaust system to drop the weight of the NISMO system. Going to be looking for things to re-locate to the rear of the car, the weight balance is just going to get more and more lopsided heh.

corbin09 05-29-2012 03:41 PM

Let me know if you can get a discount for multiple cages, I am down for one.

It is definitely a learning experience. It is funny how much a difference tires make in something like that.

Sh0velMan 05-29-2012 03:55 PM

I'll definitely ask. I pretty much know who is going to make it, I'll ask him if it makes it any easier to do two back to back and if he wants to discount it at all. His rates are pretty astoundingly reasonable, so most of the cost will be materials I am guessing.

I think I've ran into a couple times in Addison. Nice ride!

Can your please confirm the size and offset of your rims and also the profile of your tires? I am interested in purchasing these wheels for my car and would prefer not to run spacers in terms of fitment.

thanks in advance

...looking good Sh0velMan !

Sh0velMan 06-02-2012 09:54 AM

Appreciate it!

Today we're going to (attempt to) wrap the headers and intakes in thermal barrier to try and cut down on some of the under-hood heat. It's robbing us of a lot of power. The headers didn't get wrapped initially because of some sponsorship concerns so we're going to try and do a passable job without pulling them off, 'cause that's a huge pain.

Wish us luck!

Edit: OH and I picked up some sheet aluminum.. radiator shroud and heat shielding incoming!
