Are you going to consider this for the pss10?

BILSTEIN ridecontrol®

Also, have you thought about robispec v3 (since v3 was in your consideration)? He responded to my pm that he does make them, not sure if any 370z actually running them (other than his own race car I guess).

Never seen that about the Bilsteins. MMMM. When the time comes, I will check on the Robspec V3 again.

Those looks great. Great choice on the color of the powdercoat.

Show us some pics when you get the wheels back on.

scruffydog 02-15-2013 09:39 PM

nice job man! love your rotors!

Gawl128 02-16-2013 01:12 AM

You have to let us know how the "new" brakes feel.

This is off topic - but when you did the Gen 3 install: What did you have to trim to get them installed?

- Was it just the holes to fit the tubes through? Or was there some Nismo specific trimming you found was required?

Thanks Rusty.

Thanks Rusty.

Just the standard trimming to get the tubes through the radiator support. On the left side where the A/C lines are. I sliced a piece of hose, and put that around the one A/C line with a zip tie so that the tube and the line doesn't touch one another.

They look great, but stock calipers? After spending all that money on rotors I would expect a matching upgrade to the calipers?

6 pistons calipers are down the road when my driving skills increase. The stock 4 piston calipers are not bad. Pad and rotor choice play a big part of their performance. Also, others things need taken care of too. So I have to choose wisely.

cv129 02-17-2013 09:58 PM

Even C&D said that the issue wasn't with the hardware, but its due to lack of cooling. The much heavier FX50 uses the same hardware

I had no doubt you looked a tall you options that why I was so curious about the calipers. I would have expected them to be temporary until I saw the powder coat and thought you may have just deiced to keep the nismo look, but you generally pick substance over style.

You know if you would have gotten this silly care a little sooner it wouldn't have taken much to convince me to keep mine :driving:

Rusty 02-18-2013 12:46 PM

I looked at everything out there. Brembo's, AP Racing, etc. For now, I decided to stick with the stock calipers. But calipers needed some color to them. They blended right in with my wheel centers. And Mikes prices are not bad at all for powder coating. :tiphat: So I bling them. LOL

Fair enough, they certainly do look good.

Replaced the Lower Front Bumper Fascia. From when I clipped a curb with it on my last trackday last year. Got the new one from the link below. About a hunderd bucks cheaper then the dealer. There is a piece broken off of the bumper tho. Going to try a fix it with a plastic welder. You can see it in the last picture. I was under the Nismo today, and the new fascia is already scrapped up. :shakes head:

Also when I replaced the lower fascia. I notice that the 3 plastic rivets that hold the diffuser to the frame are gone. This is the 3 in front of the oil pan. I have a ZSpeed diffuser too. So I got some Well Nuts that would fit the holes. Put them in and screwed them tight. No more having to worry about them disappearing. And it's tight.

scruffydog 04-03-2013 10:55 PM

Good job yea that lower diffuser isn't cheap.

Got a GoPro Hero3 Black. And bought all the toys for it too. :shakes head: Been playing around with a mount for the harness bar. It's from RAM Mounts. It's for an atv roll bar. It secures with a hose clamp. Using an external mic. I have it taped to the rear bumper. Between the exhaust. It picks up the exhaust, road noise and some of the wind. The problem I have now. Is that my computer has to be up dated to be able to down load the videos. :shakes head:

Weird. I haven't had to do anything to the computer to get the videos off. You could get a $10 SD card reader and avoid that.

Make sure you update the firmware on the camera! They're buggy pieces of junk without the updates. I helped a friend get his working last weekend at Mid-Ohio. Took great video once we got it upgraded!

sig11 04-12-2013 07:45 AM

Oh! How is that external mic? Do you still need a big dead kitten to get clean sound?

tibal 04-12-2013 08:04 AM

That's pretty sweet! Your not messing around with a setup like that. :)

Interested in the videos once you get that computer updated!

scruffydog 04-12-2013 10:43 AM

Good job! It's always entertaining follow up on you. Thanks for all these fun posts.

I'm working with a $10.00 computer. It was a Christmas present from my kid. LOL My old Dell crashed, and my daughter got me this cheap HP. So, I'm going to get another 'puter shortly. This HP is just a base model to begin with.

I got the GoPro to work great with my computer at work. BUT, I have to watch out for the IT Nazi's! I could end up getting sh!t canned if not careful. :shakes head:

I put the foam sock on it before I taped it on. You can hear the exhaust, tire noise, and wind. So, yea it needs a bigger dead cat.

Here's the link for the RAM GoPro mount. Cost me $33.21 plus shipping.

One thing about the Hero3. You can play the video's from the camera to the tv. You got to see it on a 60" LED with surround sound. :D

Test I did using the polarized filter and the mic inside the Nismo. Camera setting are 720p at 60fps. I used the WiFi to start and stop the camera.

My Ram extension came in. I had to assemble it. Which is nice. Because the tube that came with it is about 17" long, so you can cut it to the length you need. I cut mine to 11" from ball to ball. This positions it about eye level and just behind you ear. I thought I had a good location for the mic. I taped it to a piece of metal I had welded together, and put it in the rear. Thought that it would cut down on the wind noise since it's inside the car, but still hear the exhaust. WRONG! I had the windows down, and that's what you hear mostly on the video. Wind noise. :shakes head:

Camera settings: ProTune Off, Resolution 1440p, 30fps, Spot Meter On, Polarized lense filter.

Thanks! You only go around once in life, and it's short. So make the most out of it. I lost my wife to cancer 2 years ago at the age of 50. That was a leason I will not forget about the meaning of life.

Just wanted to say thanks again for helping me figure out what to do with those RC ducts. My body shop actually made an account so that they would be able to see the pictures of your DIY. They said it was very well done - which is pretty high praise coming from D&V.

Should have her back tomorrow evening. Would have been today but the duct kit install was a bit more complex than they had initially assumed (wait, you mean we're not just cutting holes in your bumper?!?)

I ended up having the ducts painted to match the body. I have no carbon accents anywhere on the car and they looked goofy in grey/carbon (like the car had buck teeth).
