I'm sure I'll walk away with a lot of wallet-draining ideas. :icon14:

I'll bet ZS is the only one that's Overland'ed a VW Touareg. Cool on him though!

Made it to the Overland/OffRoad Expo... gathered a ton of ideas for the Jeep... got home later that day and ordered a new gas tank for my KTM EXC. :icon14:

There is just so much out there for overlanding. It's unbelievable.

Do you have those new 40s on your Jeep yet?

To run 40's. I would install a set of Dana 60's under it just to be on the safe side.

Yea.....a new canvas to paint on.

List of things I have done.
1. Line-X the bed.
2. Ziebart undercoat.
3. WeatherTech floor mats.
4. WeatherTech mud flaps.
5. Front windows tinted.
6. Bed mounted my Hi Lift Jack. Hi Lift makes a set of mounts.
7. Dana cast iron diff covers in blue.
8. White Knuckle sliders on order.

List of things I want to do.
1. Rugged Ridge HD stubby front bumper with grill guard.
2. Warn Zen Platinum 1200 winch.
3. Rock Jock track bars and control arms.
4. toss up between King or Fox shocks.
5. Fox bump stops.
6. Might go with a Rusty's offroad rear bumper.
7. Want to go with TrailReady beadlock rims.
8. Lift between 2" to 3".

Nice. Congrats.

Don’t forget

37-40s should run hydro assist. So psc setup.

38-40s should run 60s or 60/14b ff.

Driveshafts

If you go over 37s, the transfer case can get finicky but iirc there’s a flash for it.

Atlas II or IV not yet a available but I’m sure it’s coming. Pure mechanical tc doesn’t play well with the electrics unlike jk’s.

Love those gladiators, but remember 8 lugs are always cooler than 5. :p

This is going to be a slow build. Fixed income.
I think 37's. General MT's.

PSC doesn't have anything yet for the diesel.

RCV axles for the Dana 44 for sure. Plus trusses. Either woods or Adams driveshafts.

Dynatrac 60/60 axles $$$$ You want to buy them for me?

No issues with the transfer case. Guys on the forum are running 43's with no problems.

I loved my general grabber x3s. I’d have them still but they don’t go over 37”.

I think slow builds are the better way to go regardless, more time to figure out the best mods.

Psc will get that sorted in time, the market is too big. Until then iiirc redneck ram is n option.

Can’t go wrong with rcvs and a truss.

I’ve been living my best 8 lug life for a year and a half, UD60s here. Personally, if I had a do over, I’d have gone fusion elite 60s. Dynatrac is good, but imo, fusion is the new standard. If I win the lottery, I’ll hook you up with a fusion elite 60/60 package.

I know the jl rubis (and I’m assuming the jt rubis) have had issues bc the new nv241or isn’t purely mechanical anymore and has electrics and synchros in it now but good to hear it’s no problem for the jt. We’re sticking with 35s for my wife’s jlur so I haven’t researched any tc stuff for the jl/jt in quite a while.

All of the red pieces are skid plates.

Putting a lot of trust in those flimsy jackstands  I assume the truck sits high enough to not squish you if they failed

When that picture was taken. I was working on the side of the Jeep. The added height made working easier.

Ever work under a 35 ton top half compressor casing supported by 6, 55gal drums full of water? Did this on a road job. The refinery didn't have enough crane capacity to flip the casing over. :shakes head:

At times, I was seeing 30+mpg. Overall avg was 26.9 mpg for 4,200 miles. Had the cruise set for 5 mph over the speed limit. Speed limits was from 65 to 80. Hate Kansas. Got my worst mileage there. It dropped to 20.7 mpg. I've taken the Z, Grand Cherokee, Power Wagon, and motorhome across Kansas a number of times. And they each got their worst mileage in that state every time. Doesn't matter if I'm going east to west, or the other way.

Kansas aye? That's odd. Well there's always 80 or 40 next time to avoid Kansas... and you know, get better mileage. :rofl2:

I've taken I70, RT24, and Rt 36 across Kansas. Same results.

I'll take I80 if I'm going to Wy, or north part of Co. Then to Denver. Rt40 just takes too long time wise.
