Just out of curiosity, how safe is it to run methanol injection?
|
In the N54 BMW world , with BMS' Meth kits with their built in FSB (fail safe that reads meth flow and tells JB4) and JB4's tuning/piggy back capabilities it's extremely safe.
Meth injection acts as an octane adder, cools your intake charge drastically, and helps keep your engine clean (an added bonus with the n54's direct injection causing valve build up) In my car my jb4 sees the meth flow through the kits "FSB" and will only add additional boost when it sees the proper flow. The JB4 (piggy back tune) has the capabilities to have on the fly boost control through the ECU based on various info in the ECU's canbus values that it constantly monitors. It allows you to datalog so many values like afr, timing, boost target, actual boost, duty cycle, intake temp, oil temp, gear, meth flow, and many many other things and its also using all of this info on the fly and cutting boost or spark when it sees fit. Meth could be used without adding any extra PSI and would be benefitial with very very minimul drawbacks but many use it to raise boost as well as its octane benefits allow for this. If you do not set up your system correctly or cut corners this could be dangerous if your meth flow was to be interupted. In the BMW n54-n55 (twin turbo engine and than the newer single turbo engine) world with the BMS kits from terry at burger tuning, as long as everything is hooked up correctly , the kit is about as perfect (safe) as you can get with any meth setup. the JB4 also has Nitrous intergration that works the same way and guys have used it without fail with insanely good results 130mph + traps with very small jets because of how well jb4 sees the cars values and throws the proper boost at it as nessasary and cuts boost when nessasary, its an extremely interesting ECU and it allows for great tuning capabilities but in some aspects the ECU's advancement combined with the BMW DI fuel system actually is a drawback for those looking to make more power than 500 whp |

the 1 looks great dropped chuck.
I am jealous of the support for tuning that comes with the n54 |
Hi, old friend.

coming from the guy who can throw a final drive long tube headers and a tune and go in the 11s lol |
Thanks for answering. The ride looks great btw. Also, pretty dark tints you got there. I'd get my car tinted if the cops weren't such a**holes on LI. I hate having the damn front plate too.

oh hai chuck :D
135 is looking good. Any plans for wheels? |
wow the lowered look are definitely better!

get a PBA card, or i actually think it helps as an opputunity for a pitty ticket when they get me for going too fast or something else worse than tint or front plate... im also on long island (suffolk) and havent really been harrassed for it, one time while in bay shore at a BBQ restaurant ( i live no where near there) i got pulled over before AND after i ate for plate and tint ..... the second time i asked WTF?!? twice in two hours? and he said that was there job that day, lmfao... other than that have not been bothered about tint or plate on my Z or bmw.... as far as wheels I def do want to get some wheels but the 1 series doesnt accept many offsets eliminating a ton of wheels I would like... I think its between Advan RCZ I think they are, gotta find a pic, and just going with a CSL replica wheel in gunmetal like whats on the 1M |
Needed some Wheels and got Advan RZ's, the offsets I can use on the 135 are the absolute worst, eliminating most of my favorite wheels but these go well with the car... For tires I went with Kuhmo Ecsta XS tires, and for what its worth I am less than impressed despite MANY positive reviews on these tires... decent when heated up but nothing special.. but 450+tq will light up most street tires

Not a bad choice considering your limited options. Much better than stock!
|
Yea the rear offset is 18x9 +50 :barf:
My Z had 19x10.5 -2 after spacer was finally figured out. Such a change. But the TQ and power p this car is in another world from the Z and I've abused the hell out of her and she just takes it like a champ on the face. Lmao. Btw boost the Z with the shock wave sounds incredible. |

I'm sure the power is awesome in that car. And who has boosted the z on the shockwave? Or was it 350/g35? |
damn chuck new wheels look really good
