Well, got my car back. Shipped the last couple of things out. Now to sell / maybe keep the car for a little while longer.

Its so quiet and slow I feel like I'm driving an accord.

I thought I would always enjoy owning an M3. I test drove one and bought the GT-R without even looking back. Not bashing you at all my friend, there's a lot of options out there... Enjoy whatever you go with.

Of course a GT-R would be amazing, but it's a lot more $ and a lot more to maintain. The M3 is relatively under powered for its weight, but the driving experience is in my opinion better than the GT-R's.

Have you checked out 996 Turbos or GT3s? They are both pretty reliable and in my opinion have a higher level of driving experience even over the M3 and can be found in the 40-50k price range. That's where my money would probably be but the M3 is a wicked machine.

Oh yeah, those cars are awesome too and absolutely would love to own one. The problem is that if something goes wrong then you're screwed with a huge repair bill.

Appreciate that man, I loved my Z until the last few months when the clutch started giving me headaches. It really took away from the drivability. Now that the stock suspension is in and the stock clutch is in, the car became much more drivable around town. I don't scrape anywhere and its less jerky. It drives so smooth now without the sc drag.

One thing is for sure though, some pretty cool people in this community and that's what I'm going to take away from this entire experience... too bad it gets so screwed up by a "few".

Depends on what driving experience you're looking for. GT-R is the best money can buy when it comes to speed, power, drivability and technology. Start modding and you have rivaled a Bugatti Veyron's performance which is just short of a 3 million dollar car these days.

Only a couple cars truly rival a GT-Rs performance stock and they are 175k-2.7million. Add alpha performance upgrade packages (anywhere 6 thru 12) to your GT-R and it becomes an unstoppable force on the streets or track. Maintenance on the GT-R isn't bad as long as you take proper care of it, expensive to service and a higher price point but worth every penny when you get behind the wheel and see what you've been missing.

I love the GTR and consider buying from time to time, but ultimately I need a traditional manual transmission. Unless I own one in addition to another sports car I think it will always remain a car I admire but could never own.

I was a bit worried about this myself at 1st, but with the performance, this concern is not even thought about after the purchase and my 1st stock test drive. I actually like the way the transmission works with the dual clutch in the GT-R. It shifts in only .2 seconds which is humanly impossible in a standard gearbox.

If I want to rip thru a traditional 6 speed, I'll hop in the 370Z and take it for a spin...

Also remember the GT-R is a Super Car, NOT a Sports Car, two very different beasts. Most Super Cars in almost every brand, have switched over to the dual clutch trans for better performance results.

Exactly and what I'm looking for is a great driving experience at a price that is responsible for me at my age. I know the GT-R is much faster in every sense than the M3, but the GT-R will never be quite as rewarding to drive as a N/A RWD well balanced car. I've been in both on the race track and while the GT-R is absolutely mind blowingly fast, the M3 is the drivers car of the two. If money was no object, I would buy both, but somehow I see myself driving the M more often. I honestly don't mind going slower and having more fun...
